As we head into Free Agency for the NFL, I have constructed some sleepers to consider for this 2025 fantasy season. I feel these three quarterbacks have the potential to surpass their current ADP, providing incredible value for those willing to take the risk. Each of them has the talent, supporting cast, and opportunity to outperform expectations. And quite honestly, they have some Top 5 QB finish potential if everything falls into place.
Caleb Williams (CHI)
Current QB 15 projection
The former overall number 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft had quite an eventful rookie season. The head coach & offensive coordinator turnover is hard on any quarterback but intensifies with a rookie under center. Heading into 2025, Caleb Williams will have a new head coach calling plays, who was the hottest name in the coaching carousel. Ben Johnson‘s system has the potential to unlock Williams’ game as Johnson had Jared Goff finish in the top 10 of fantasy QBs the last two seasons.
Caleb Williams does have some positive notes from the previous season, even with the chaos that was going on for the Chicago Bears. He had 4 top-five 5 QB finishes during the season, along with a QB1 finish in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Along with that, Williams finished in the top 10 in rushing yards for QBs. Duel-threat quarterbacks have such a high value in fantasy, which could lead Caleb Williams to a high finish for this upcoming fantasy season.
Justin Fields (FA)
Current QB 33 projection
A free agent to add to the list, Justin Fields has been a polarizing name in the fantasy community in recent years. Last season, he was given the starting role for the Pittsburgh Steelers to begin the season. In those 6 games, Fields has 2 top-five finishes, plus a QB1 finish in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts (312 passing yards, 1 passing TD, & 2 rushing TDs). The Steelers then turned to Russell Wilson in Week 7, while their record was 4-2.
Fields’ current ADP is undrafted. This offseason will be very telling for Fields’ outlook in the 2025 season. There is a lot of interest in the 25-year-old, and he could find himself a starting job without a veteran lurking over his shoulder. If a team does invest in Fields to be their guy, he could get back to his ways of 2022, where he finished as QB 6. Rumors are circulating about a potential reunion with the Steelers, and if that happens, Justin Fields, who ranked as the QB6 during starts with the team, could have a chance to maintain that pace over a full season.
Patrick Mahomes (KC)
Current QB 6 projection
“How is Patrick Mahomes a sleeper?” Hear me out. Mahomes is coming off his first fantasy finish outside of the top-10 ever. Fantasy managers could feel sour about using such high draft capital to take the NFL’s best just for him to finish as QB 11. While being a win away from the first-ever 3-peat, Mahomes’ fantasy season didn’t have the explosiveness of recent years.
There is light at the end of the tunnel for Mahomes heading into the 2025 season. The last time Patrick Mahomes lost a Super Bowl, he followed up the fantasy season with a QB 1 finish. Also, he has another year of weapons such as Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and a returning Travis Kelce. With the current ADP 63.0, I would gladly take Mahomes at this price.
