This close but no cigar thing is getting old for my Betting Guide.
Si Woo Kim grabbed the lead early in the final round at The Open Championship until four bogeys in his final 8 holes kept me from getting another winner.
Ryan Fox’s birdie on his final hole sealed him as the winner of the Claret Jug last Sunday.
This week the PGA Tour heads to the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.
Kurt Kitayama is the defending champion and he is joined by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is making his first career start at the 3M Open.
Scheffler is the obvious favorite as the event holds one of the weakest fields on the Tour schedule.

Betting Guide: Bets to Win
Doug Ghim (+4900)
I can’t bet Scottie at +345 and expect a good payday so I’m leaning heavily on higher odds golfers this week.
Ghim had three straight Top 30 finishes before missing the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open.
He is a Top 20 performer on Tour in 7 of my 11 categories I used this week, led by shots gained: Tee to green and SG: Off the tee.
Plus, he has played 12 of last 14 rounds 69 or better while improving his distance off the tee as the season progressed.
Ben James (+5100)
Since making his pro debut at the RBC Canadian Open, James has made the cut in all five of his tournaments as he finished fourth last week at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
He has three Top 25 finishes in those same tournaments and will use his accuracy off the tee, strong greens in regulation and par-5 scoring to make a run to the top of the leaderboard this week.
He doesn’t have eye popping stats as you would expect with his strong start to his career, but with a weak field and several returning from The Open, James could be a sneaky winner.
Christian Bezuidenhout (+6500)
Bezuidenhout’s game doesn’t rely on overpowering the golf course, but instead on gaining strokes with elite iron play and a dependable short game.
He enters the week Top 30 on Tour in SG: Approach (28th), SG: Around the green (28th) and SG: Putting (25th). He had two Top 25 finishes before a bad weekend at Corales Puntacana Championship last week left him in T69.
He finished T20 last year at the 3M and shot a 65 in the final round.
Top 20 with ties
William Mouw (+255): Mouw has shot a 69 or less in 7 of last 8 rounds played as he has had a T10 and a T26 in his last two tournaments.
Zach Bauchou (+320): Bauchou missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open two weeks ago but returned to shoot 68-66 over the weekend at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
One and Done
Keith Mitchell: Despite missing the cut at The Open Championship, Mitchell has been playing solid golf with an improved putter. His strong play off the tee and his approach game should help him to separate at the 3M Open and in your One and Done leagues.
