Following another uninspiring offensive performance in Week 12, the Las Vegas Raiders have fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. “I spoke with Chip Kelly earlier this evening and informed him of his release as offensive coordinator of the Raiders,” head coach Pete Carroll said in a statement released by the team. “I would like to thank Chip for his service and wish him all the best in the future.”
The Las Vegas Raiders signed Chip Kelly in February of 2025 and reportedly made him the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL. Kelly’s tenure with Las Vegas is over after just 11 regular-season games.
Raiders’ Offense Spiraling
The Las Vegas Raiders are tied for last in the NFL in points per game (15.0). They have only scored 17 touchdowns this season (30th). The offense under Chip Kelly ranked 30th in total yards per game (268.9), 25th in passing yards per game (189.5), and 31st in rushing yards per game (79.5).
Quarterback Geno Smith has thrown 13 interceptions, tied for the most in the league. The Raiders’ offensive line has allowed 41 sacks, which ranks 31st in the NFL. Since Week 10, the Las Vegas Raiders have averaged a measly 11.0 points per game and an insufficient 3.6 yards per play. With the offense showing no signs of improvement, the Las Vegas Raiders decided it was best to make a change.
