The Genesis Invitational Betting Guide: Bets to win & Top 20 finishes

The Genesis Invitational - Chris Gotterup

While the NFL offseason in full swing, I like to dabble in golf with DFS and a few bets to win and I’m going to provide my top plays for my Betting Guide for The Genesis Invitational.

Through five events this season, I’ve hit one winner in Chris Gotterup at the WM Phoenix Open. Gotterup rallied late with 5 birdies on his last 6 holes to force a playoff with Hideki Matsuyama.

Gotterup birdied the playoff hole as Matsuyama struggled off the tee.

Let’s get into a few of my bets for this week’s The Genesis.

Betting Guide: Bets to Win

Tommy Fleetwood (+2600 on DraftKings)

Fleetwood made his first appearance of the PGA Tour season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week and he didn’t miss a beat.

After a sluggish start in two DP World Tour events in Dubai this year, Fleetwood responded with a T4 at the Pebble Beach with a final round 66.

Approach play from 150 to 200 yards will be crucial at The Genesis, and Fleetwood gained 0.77 strokes in approach in his first PGA event of the season.

Chris Gotterup (+3000 on DraftKings)

Gotterup has been the darling of the 2026 season so far – winning two events already this season.

Then he rattled off six straight birdies to start his Pebble Beach tournament. However, he struggled most of the tournament after his first-round 64.

He finished T37, but his win equity remains strong as his all-around game can carry him. He’s Top 35 in shot gained in tee to green, off the tee, approach and around the green.

Gotterup ranks 34th in approaches from 175-200 and 51st in 150-175.

Sepp Straka (+4800 on DraftKings)

Straka has finally righted the ship after his ugly missed cut at The American Express three weeks ago.

And since that time, he has rattled off 7 straight rounds of 69 or better.

Last week at Pebble Beach, he finished with a T2 including two 66s in his first two rounds of the tournament.

But what makes Straka a strong play at Riviera Country Club is his elite approach play. He enters The Genesis at 17th in shots gained in approach, including a 9th from 175-200 yards and a 44th from 150-175.

He did miss the cut in the 2024 but he’s playing much better golf now than 2 years ago.

Top 20 finish with ties

Jacob Bridgeman (+215): If it wasn’t for some bad play in the final 9 holes at Pebble Beach, Bridgeman would have been in the hunt for the tournament win.

Ryo Hisatsune (+235): I know he’s never played at the Riviera Country Club but I’m going to stay with his hot all-around play.

One and Done

Fleetwood: The Englishman’s form at Pebble Beach allows me to pick him this week, and there’s also the fact that Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have not won The Genesis. This keeps Scheffler and McIlory available for the four majors and six other elevated events this season.
