Jadarian Price Drafted by the Seahawks | Fantasy Football Impact

The Seattle Seahawks closed out Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting running back Jadarian Price, and no player saw a bigger boost to their fantasy outlook based on landing spot alone. Price was never viewed as the top back in this class during the pre-draft process, but he now finds himself in arguably the best situation possible. At Notre Dame, Price was highly efficient in a limited role, averaging 6.0 yards per carry while totaling 674 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this past season. Across his college career, he logged over 1,600 rushing yards on fewer than 300 attempts, showing explosive efficiency every time he touched the ball. He also added value as a returner and consistently created big plays, forcing missed tackles at one of the highest rates in this class. While he was never featured due to playing behind Jeremiyah Love, his per-touch production suggests there is more untapped upside.

What makes this pick so impactful is the situation in Seattle. The Seahawks entered the draft with one of the thinnest backfields in the NFL after Kenneth Walker III departed in free agency and Zach Charbonnet suffered a late-season ACL injury that puts his 2026 availability in question. As things currently stand, Price has a clear path to lead-back duties immediately, with minimal competition outside of depth options like Emanuel Wilson. Seattle has consistently been one of the more run-heavy teams in the league, and that philosophy should continue, giving Price a strong opportunity to see significant volume right away. Opportunity is everything at the running back position, and Price has landed in a spot where touches should not be hard to come by.

However, there are still legitimate concerns that need to be factored into expectations. Price enters the league with one of the lightest workloads of any first-round running back in recent history, totaling just 295 career touches, which leaves some uncertainty about how he will handle a full NFL workload. His role in the passing game is also a question mark, as he recorded just 15 career receptions and was rarely used on passing downs in college. Additionally, pass protection could limit his snaps early, as his grading in that area was among the lowest in this class. These factors could lead to a more situational role early on than the landing spot alone might suggest.

There’s also risk in overvaluing the situation. While Price clearly benefited from how the board fell, Seattle was reportedly open to trading down, and the late first-round draft capital doesn’t carry the same hit rate as earlier selections at the position. The Seahawks could still add a veteran presence before the season, and Charbonnet could return later in the year to carve out a role. We’ve seen similar situations in recent years where early excitement around a rookie back gets tempered once the full picture of the backfield emerges.

From a fantasy perspective, Price is one of the biggest immediate risers coming out of Round 1. He has a legitimate path to finishing as a top-24 running back in redraft leagues simply based on projected volume and team philosophy. At the same time, there is clear volatility baked into his profile, making him a risky investment if his draft cost climbs too high. In dynasty formats, the first-round capital and opportunity make him a premium asset, but expectations should be managed given the unanswered questions in his profile. Price hit the landing spot lottery, but whether he can fully capitalize on it will depend on how quickly he adapts to a larger role at the next level.
