The 2027 wide receiver draft class has the potential to be special. It’s not receiving the attention it deserves just yet due to the strong quarterback class, but it will as these athletes show their ability this college football season. It starts at the top with a generational talent. Jeremiah Smith is the best wide receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson, 20 years ago. These are my top 5 WR prospects for the 2027 NFL draft: summer scouting edition.

1. Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
6’3″ | 223 | 20 | Junior
Strengths
• A unicorn with elite size, speed, strength, and feel for the game
• Naturally strong, hands catcher
• Elite body control to make difficult catches
• Second gear and runs through contact on yards after catch
Weaknesses
• Plays with an elite surrounding cast
• Doesn’t reach top speed quickly
What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Is there any diva to him?
• Does his on-field work ethic cross over into blocking?
2. Ryan Coleman-Williams, Alabama
6”0″ | 182 | 19 | Junior
Strengths
• Elite quickness. Agility used in route running and yards after catch
• Can catch and run, highpoint the ball, and make circus catches
• Big play speed
• Plays tough despite slender frame. Fights through contact and willingly works the middle of the field
• First-Team All-SEC as a 17-year-old freshman
Weaknesses
• Massive yards-per-catch drop-off from 2024 to 2025
• Needs to protect himself better
• High drop rate
What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Will the big play return?
• Can/will he block?
• Clean up drops
3. Bryant Wesco Jr., Clemson
6’2″ | 190 | 20 | Junior
Strengths
• Elite downfield ball tracking and contested catch ability
• Long strider with sneaky speed
• Good timing and spacing despite limited route tree
• Returned punts
Weaknesses
• Spinal injury ended 2025 season
• Very lean at 6’2″, 190 pounds – could add weight
• Limited route tree
What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Expanded route tree. Has the physical tools required
• Does he block? Long arms and doesn’t shy away from contact
• Back injury a concern?
4. Cam Coleman, Texas
6’3″ | 200 | 19 | Junior
Strengths
• Elite at contested catches. Uses big body and long arms to win
• Tracks the ball well downfield
• Adequate, untapped route running ability
Weaknesses
• Relies heavily on 50/50 balls. Can he separate consistently?
• Will need a larger route tree in the NFL
• Average speed
• Very handsy
What I’m Looking For in 2026
• More diverse route tree
• High point the ball more often
• Taunts often. Does it get him in trouble? Diva?
• In for a potentially huge season at Texas
5. Ryan Wingo, Texas
6’2″ | 211 | 20 | Junior
Strengths
• Elite YAC ability. Follows blocks well, big play speed, runs with power
• Physical specimen
• Physically imposing in the secondary
Weaknesses
• Doesn’t appear natural at receiver
• Lacks lateral agility
• Raw as a route runner, but has the traits to develop
What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Advancement in route running
• Does he catch consistently?
• Can he make contested catches?
• Is there more diversity in his game? Kick return? Snaps at RB?
