Top 5 TE Prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft

Last year in the NFL draft, we saw the resurgence of the tight end as 22 were drafted, the most since 2002. The upcoming draft appears to be just as loaded, potentially with even more top-end talent. Stars like Trey’Dez Green and Jamari Johnson headline the class, but there are many formidable talents at their heels. Below are my top 5 tight ends of the 2027 NFL Draft: Summer Scouting Edition.

6’7″ | 245 | Junior

Strengths
• Rare size and athleticism combination
• Natural at contested catches. Elite high point and box-out ability
• Good long speed
• Seamless transition from catch to YAC. Fights through arm tackles, finishes every play strong

Weaknesses
• Struggles to separate
• Not used in-line

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• More diverse route tree
• Blocking

6’5″ | 257 | Junior

Strengths
• Good feel for route running. Tools to be great, but needs refining
• Large catch radius
• Strong, athletic build
• Good second gear in YAC. Runs tough

Weaknesses
• Lacks burst out of breaks
• Average wiggle

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Blocking? Has the build for it
• Take another step forward in route running
• Highly productive season could earn him 1st round consideration

6’4″ | 250 | Junior

Strengths
• Elite YAC ability. Makes first guy miss, adequate speed and finishes through contact
• Glides through routes
• Lines up all over formation
• 5 star recruit. #1 TE in 2024

Weaknesses
• Transfer to Virginia Tech could hurt stock
• Below average production as a starter in 2025

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Focal point of the pass game
• Blocking? Has the build and temperament for it
• Stretch the field

6’7″ | 250 | 21 | Senior

Strengths
• Natural hands catcher. Can catch in traffic and highpoint the ball
• Strong redzone threat
• Stretches the field vertically
• Good feel for spacing & timing in route running
• Lines up all over the formation

Weaknesses
• Lacks ideal speed
• Limited in YAC. Runs tough, but with very little wiggle
• Large frame could use more muscle

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• How is his blocking?
• Add muscle
• Can he win against man coverage with limited agility?

6’4″ | 249 | 20 | Junior

Strengths
• Sneaky good straight-line speed
• Good route running and more room to grow
• Lines up in-line and in the slot
• Good feel for zone coverage and presenting himself to the QB

Weaknesses
• Raw, undeveloped ability
• Size doesn’t lend itself to being a good blocker
• Limited production with 47 catches in career

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Has the tools to become an elite route runner
• Blocking?
• More vertical routes
• Will size hinder him?
