As I work through evaluating prospects for the 2027 NFL draft, each position leaves an impression for a bevy of reasons, cornerback is no different. This years crop of corners carries size, instincts, aggressiveness and a generational talent.

Here are my top 5 cornerbacks for the 2027 NFL Draft, summer scouting edition.

6’2″ | 197 | Junior

Strengths
• Elite coverage skills. Mirrors receivers and fluid in transition
• High IQ. Runs routes for the receiver. often cutting off the pass
• Good in press to redirect and disrupt timing
• Great ball skills. 7 INTs and 18 PBUs in 20 starts

Weaknesses
• High waisted build leaves him attacking ball carriers high
• Can over pursue in run gaps

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• How does he look in zone coverage
• Better tackling technique
• Cover shiftier receivers inside

6’4″ | 195 | 22 | Junior

Strengths
• Elite size and length at 6’4″
• Smooth mover with great transition from backpedal. Changes direction with explosion
• Works great with his eyes on the QB. Recognizes route combinations
• Aggressive at the catch point

Weaknesses
• Average deep speed. Gets caught trailing at times

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Can he mirror receivers in man-to-man
• Turnover production. 2 career INTs
• Consistent tackling

Strengths
• Fluid mover. Great hips to transition from a backpedal. Feet effortlessly follow his eyes in zone
• Great size. Strong build with very long arms
• Aggressive against screen and run game

Weaknesses
• Can be overly aggressive against ball carriers
• Not aggressive enough in press

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• More ball production/INTs
• Mirror receivers
• More aggressive with hands throughout the route
• Form tackles

6’2″ | 190 | 21 | Senior

Strengths
• Aggressive in the run and screen game. Great tackler
• Effective blitzer
• Great short area recovery speed. Can bait and cut off passes

Weaknesses
• Struggles to finish plays to create turnovers

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Can he mirror receivers?
• Complete plays for turnovers
• Press? Use physical nature at line of scrimmage

6’0″ | 180 | Junior

Strengths
• Elite feet and transition
• Mirrors receivers well
• Good instincts and play recognition. Plays well with eyes on QB

Weaknesses
• Undersized at 180 pounds
• Can get bullied at line of scrimmage or by handsy receivers in their routes
• Tackling limited by size

What I’m Looking For in 2026
• Better form tackling. Wrap and wait for help
• Complete play for INTs
• Inside or outside at next level?
• How does he handle large receivers?
