Offseason hibernation is over. The days are getting longer, but time is getting shorter until Ireland gets introduced to Farmaggedon. Now is the time to start learning about teams for the 2025 season, whether it’s the new QB for the reigning National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes or who has the best chance to win Conference-USA. This series will cover my top 100 preseason college football rankings for 2025 as we count down 100 days until Week 0. We will dive into a new team each day as we draw closer to the college football season.

Countdown to Kickoff: Day 83

Coming in at No. 83 in our 2025 preseason rankings: Army Black Knights

Army is coached by Jeff Monken, who is in his 12th year with the program. The Black Knights finished last year with a record of 12-2 and 1st in the American.

Army returns 51% of production from the 2024 team: 34% on the Offense and 67% on the Defense. According to 247Sports, the Black Knights finished the 2025 cycle with 84 recruits, landing the 130th overall ranked class, which ranked 12th in the American. 8% of the 2025 roster will be made up of new additions.

Offensive Coordinator Cody Worley, heading into his 2nd year with the program, will lead the offense that put up 30.2 points per game last season (37th nationally). The Black Knights finished 2024 with 62.3 plays per game (124th) and a pace of 33.2 seconds per play (134th). The offense averaged 54.3 runs (2nd) for 295.4 per game (1st), along with 7.5 pass attempts (134th) for 82.4 yards per game (134th). The triple option was the feature piece in the offense, with an 86%-14% run-pass play call split. The overall offensive success rate was 51%

Up front, Army brings back 68% of its offensive line production from last year, with 3 clear-cut starters for 2025. With the departure of 2024 starting QB Bryson Daily, the quarterback competition looks to be between Dewayne Coleman, Cale Hellums, and Ethan Washington. The starting quarterback will be tasked with improving the 43% pass success rate from 2024. In 2024, Daily finished with 1007 passing yards, 310 carries for 1659 yards, and 41 total touchdowns. and averaged 34.4 fantasy points per game. In 75% of his starts, he scored at least 24.2 fantasy points. He finished 2024 with a season high of 60.45 and a low of 5.45 fantasy points.

The Black Knights return 30% of the rushing production in 2025, with Noah Short being the only returning back with 50+ carries. 2024 star running back Kanye Udoh’s skillset, mixed with the game script, led him to 179 carries, 1117 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12.8 fantasy points per game. He surpassed 3.5 fantasy points in 75% of his games.

Army enters 2025 with the 101st-ranked strength of schedule. The Black Knights will have back-to-back home games in Weeks 11 and 13.

Our model predicts a 7-5 record for the Black Knights. Our model gives the team a 75+% win expectancy in 4 games, a 50-75% win expectancy in 5 games, a 25-49% win expectancy in 1 game, and a <25% win expectancy in 2 games.

According to their conference championship odds of +450 at DraftKings, the Black Knights are predicted to finish 3rd in the American.
