The Buffalo Bills are promoting current offensive coordinator Joe Brady to be the Bills’ next Head Coach.
New Era In Buffalo
Joe Brady now becomes the 20th head coach in Buffalo Bills history, replacing Sean McDermott, who was let go after another heartbreaking playoff loss. It’s a significant moment for a franchise that believes its Super Bowl window is still wide open, but also understands that something needs to change after coming up short one too many times.
Now, Brady faces his first major decision as head coach: how to build out his offensive staff. He can choose to promote from within, maintaining the system that helped stabilize the offense and get the most out of Josh Allen late in the season.
The other option is to look outside the building and bring in his own offensive coordinator from around the league. Doing so would give Brady the chance to build out his own coaching tree rather than work with McDermotts.
New Look
Buffalo will now transform from having a defensive-minded head coach to a young offensive guy who knows what it takes to run an elite-level offense. Over the past two seasons, when Brady was the full-time offensive coordinator, Buffalo finished 10th in total yards and 2nd in points per game (2024). This season, Buffalo improved to 4th in total yards, and once again, Joe Brady led Buffalo to being a top 5 points per game offense, finishing 4th.
