Well, if you followed my DFS Must Starts, you had the beginning of successful lineups.
The Dallas duo of Dak Prescott and Jake Ferguson combined for 52.18 DraftKings points and helped led one of my early only slate lineups to a couple of nice cashes, while Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs and LA Chargers’ Quinton Johnston were part of afternoon only lineup that cashed.
But it was one of my Main Slate lineups that had the really big week. I stacked the Tampa Bay–Seattle game and its stars came through. Seattle’s Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tory Horton combined for 74.74 points, and I added Emeka Egbuka (34.30 DK points) as a comeback. It also helped that this was my only lineup I paired up Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor (31.6 points) and Carolina’s Rico Dowdle (35.40 points) as my running backs. Indianapolis was my DST with 17.0 points. That group propelled me to 229.94 points and a first-place finish in the $8K Huddle single-entry tournament.

It was nice to finally take one down since it’s been a couple of seasons in the NFL.
Now let’s get into this week’s top plays!
QB DFS Must Starts
Mac Jones, San Francisco ($5,600, 1.9 percent rostered)
I was really torn between Jones and LA Rams’ Matthew Stafford as my QB must start in my article (I will playing both of them in at least 1 of my 10 Main Slate lineups). But Jones is the lower price option to help fill my lineup with other tough decisions.
Plus, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has allowed Jones to air it out in his three starts. Jones has averaged 43 pass attempts and 301.7 passing yards in this starts.
And the Buccaneers come into the game down two cornerbacks again. Jamel Dean will return to his starting CB spot this week after missing the Seattle game, but his counterpart Zyon McCollum is going to miss the game with a thumb injury. Dean’s back-up Benjamin Morrison will miss a second straight game.
The Bucs’ secondary struggled against Darnold, who averaged 10.0 yard per attempt in his 341-yard game last week.
RB DFS Must Starts
Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas ($6,900, 13.2 percent rostered)
Jeanty may have disappointed some last week after his three-TD performance in Week 4, but he still had a solid day in the Raiders’ blowout loss to Indianapolis.
The important stat last week was his usage in the passing game as he had a 19 percent target share in the loss.
And now he faces a Tennessee defense that has struggled vs. running backs this season. The Titans gave up 168 yards and three touchdowns to Arizona in Tennessee’s last-second win in Week 4.
The Titans have given up 31.1 DK fantasy points a game , allowed the most rushing TDs (8) and are a bottom 5 defense in rushing yards allowed (613) to RBs this season.
WR DFS Must Starts
Puka Nacua, LA Rams ($8,700, 21.9 percent rostered)
It is so hard to ignore what Nacua has done this season and continues to do on a weekly basis.
He is on pace for 2,000 receiving yard season and probably still hasn’t a ceiling game despite averaging 28.6 DK points a game this season.
Now the Rams go to Baltimore to face the Ravens struggling secondary. Baltimore has given up 43.5 DK points to WRs this season. However, the Ravens will have Kyle Hamilton and Marlon Humphrey back in their defensive lineup this week.
But it may not matter with Puka as he has a put up double-digit catches against three Top 15 pass defenses (Houston, San Francisco and Philadelphia) this season.
TE DFS Must Starts
Jake Ferguson, Dallas ($5,300, 12.3 percent rostered)
I’m going to continue to go back to the well with Ferguson until the Cowboys wide receivers’ room is completely healthy.
With CeeDee Lamb out of the lineup, Ferguson has been Dak Prescott’s go-to guy as Ferguson has averaged 10 targets in the last three games. Lamb injured his ankle early in the Cowboys’ Week 3 loss to Chicago.
He faces a Carolina secondary that has played vs. WRs but has struggled against tight ends.
The Panthers have given up a league-high 401 receiving yards to TEs this season and have allowed 18.0 DK points a game to the position. Ferguson has averaged 17.2 DK points this season
