Free Agents Buffalo Needs to Target

Buffalo restructured RT Spencer Brown on Tuesday, freeing up over $10 million in salary cap space. This move puts Buffalo right on the edge of the 2026 salary cap, with more moves likely to come. Restructuring veterans like Josh Allen, Dion Dawkins, and others, along with some cap casualties, could leave the Bills with $20-$40 million in cap space, depending on the moves they make between now and free agency.

While the Bills aren’t in the best spot cap-wise compared to around the league, they have a new Head Coach in Joe Brady who knows it’s Super Bowl or bust and may be likely to take a swing or two at the fences.

WR George Pickens

Pickens may be receiving a franchise tag from the Dallas Cowboys, but if he doesn’t, it’s still a longshot Buffalo will have the cap space necessary to make a move for Pickens, who will command over $30 million this offseason. If Brandon Beane can make some cuts and rework many contracts, maybe, just maybe, we could see George Pickens in blue and red.

WR Alec Pierce

It’s no secret that Buffalo is in desperate need to acquire a WR or two this offseason. Alec Pierce may be the perfect weapon for Josh Allen. Pierce provides great deep threat ability and is coming off a career year in which he eclipsed 1,000 yards.

C Cade Mays

Carolina PanthersC Connor McGovern and G David Edwards are likely both going to get sizable contracts elsewhere, leaving a whole on the interior offensive line. A cheaper option like Cade Mays, who’s still got potential after having a respectable season last year in Carolina, may be just what Buffalo needs to work within the cap they have.

G Cole Strange

The former New England Patriot was cut last offseason and spent the 2025 season in Miami; he may as well stay in the AFC East. Strange, like Mays, still has plenty of room to grow and is at the very least an average NFL lineman. If Buffalo loses David Edwards, they could sign Strange to a small 1-year deal or draft a rookie in an offensive lineman-loaded class this April.

S Jaquan Brisker

Brisker isn’t the best coverage safety, but what he does excel at is his run defense ability. I wouldn’t expect Brisker to start immediately, but he could challenge Taylor Rapp for the starting role, depending on who fits better in Jim Leonhard’s 3-4 scheme

TE Greg Dulcich

TE2 may be a need for Buffalo, as it remains to be seen if Dawson Knox gets restructured or becomes a cap casualty. With glaring needs elsewhere on the team, Buffalo would need a cheap option to back up Dalton Kincaid. Signing Dulcich may be risky with his injury history, as his availability would be in question; however, he does provide good veteran experience, which is hard to find at his projected salary.

QB Sam Howell

If Mitch Trubisky doesn’t return, Buffalo will need a backup, and no backup on the market could play similarly to Josh Allen, but I was more impressed with Sam Howell‘s 2023 season than most backup options’ best seasons on the market, so it’s worth a swing at a guy who likely would only play in garbage time.

EDGE Arnold Ebiketie

Another guy who can fill the role of a departing Bill, Ebiketie, can become our next A.J. Epenesa. A rotational guy who’s played in a 3-4 defense in Atlanta can provide some much-needed depth at the edge position heading into the 2026 season.
