Stunning Rumors Swirl Around Quentin Johnston’s Future in Los Angeles in 2026

Quentin Johnston has had plenty of ups and downs throughout his young career with the Los Angeles Chargers. From the constant drops he’s had to the miraculous one-handed catches, Johnston has been a polarizing player since arriving in 2023. Now, with this upcoming season on the horizon and a fifth-year option that needs to be decided on, the big question remains: will he be with the Chargers moving forward?

There have been rumors galore all offseason about the future of Quentin Johnston. A former first round pick, some believe he should be traded while his value is high to obtain more draft capital. Various media outlets think it’s in the Chargers’ best interest to have him in a package deal for AJ Brown should the Chargers make that move.

The constant drops through his first three years as well as his inability at times to make a big play has some wondering if the Chargers should move on.

On the other hand, Johnston has made steady improvements every year he’s been in the league. In his rookie season, he accounted for 38 receptions, 431 yards, and two touchdowns. In his second year, he made a jump up to 55 receptions, 711 yards, and eight touchdowns. Last year, he had 51 catches, 735 yards, and 8 touchdowns. This makes a strong case for him to be retained for this upcoming season and beyond.

The Chargers have been working to get another receiver in the room, as they have made attempts to bring in Alec Pierce as well as AJ Brown. This doesn’t mean that Johnston is on his way out, but it does not bode well for him for his future with the Chargers. He does have a fifth-year option that the Chargers have until May first to decide on whether or not they will pick it up. If they do not pick up his option, this would be a big step in his likely departure from the team. Only time will tell how this situation plays out.
