I’m back from vacation and ready to attack the FedEX Cup playoffs with my Betting Guide.
It seems to be continuing trend of having golfers in contention on Sunday and before faltering in the second half of the season.
But now we get back to limited fields and four rounds of golf for everyone.
When they started the signature events, I struggled early in DFS but now I’ve become more comfortable with the events on my spreadsheets.
My big DFS win this year was at Genesis Invitational, riding the combo of Jacob Bridgeman, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott for a nice payday.
I had Bridgeman as a Top 20 play in my Betting Guide that week to add to my winnings.
Now let’s get into the St. Jude’s Championship picks! Odds are from DraftKings.
Betting Guide: Bets to Win
Patrick Cantlay (+3100)
Cantlay is never flashy and downright slow on the golf course at times, but he knows how to score at TPC Southwinds.
He has finished 12th or betting the last three seasons and he’s Top 30 on the Tour in approach, greens in regulation and scrambling heading into the event.
If he can find a hot putter, he could sneak away with a win in the first leg of the FedEX Cup.
Plus, he is getting overlooked, according to rostered numbers in DFS.
Jackson Koivun (+4000)
Koivun will need a big week to advance to the next round of the FedEX Cup after finishing 70th in the regular season standings.
He entered last week in the last spot and held on to advance to this week’s St. Jude’s Championship.
And a big week for him will come down to his putting. If he can gain 6-plus strokes putting like he did at his 3M Open victory, he should advance to play another week.
With this week’s stack field, he will need his all-around game to bring home another win.
Tom Kim (+5100)
Kim may be the hottest golfer on the Tour at the moment and he was one bad hole away from staying in contention at the Wyndham Championship last week.
And he’s been doing it the Tom Kim way like when he first joined Tour – keeping the ball in the fairway, strong approach play and solid putting.
He has quietly put in himself in the Scottie Scheffler zone on my DFS spreadsheet. He ranks in the Top 20 in 9 of the 11 categories I used this week.
Top 20 with ties
Jordan Smith: Smith has been providing strong starts in recent tournaments, but now he needs to put together four solid rounds to advance to next week’s BMW Championship.
Alex Fitzpatrick: If the younger Fitzpatrick ever figures out how to putt consistently, he will join his brother as one of the PGA Tour’s best young talent.
