Tour Championship Betting Guide: Bets to Win and Top 5 finishers

My Betting Guide for the PGA Tour season is coming to an end for the year as fantasy football will encompass the majority of my time for the next several months.

We enter the final week with the biggest event of the year – the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Tommy Fleetwood is the defending FedEX Cup champion and qualified for the 30-golfer field this week.

Let’s finish the season with a winner!

Let’s get into my Bets to Win! Odds are from DraftKings.

Betting Guide: Bets to Win

Patrick Cantlay (+1600)

I’m going back to the well with Cantlay as he’s due for a win with his recent play.

He comes to East Lake as one of the best combinations of strong recent form and course fit at East Lake.

If Cantlay is going to lift the FedEX Cup trophy again (he won it in 2021), he will need to continue use his strong all-around game. He ranked in the Top 12 in four categories I used this week for my DFS spreadsheet.

He’s 4th in shots gained: Off the tee, 5th in SG: Approach, 2nd in par-4 scoring and 12th in scrambling.

If he can find a hot putter, the trophy will be within reach again.

Viktor Hovland (+2500)

Hovland has also picked up a FedEX Cup title in 2023, and his recent form has been lacking.

However, Hovland loves East Lake as he only trails Xander Schauffele for the best career scoring average at 67.4 at East Lake.

He’s not going to wow you with the stats like the other elite golfers in the final 30, but most of the betting and DFS environment may be overlooking him. I’ll take that chance with his odd and in DFS tournaments.

Russell Henley (+2900)

Henley’s stat profile is in better shape than Hovland, and his reliable accuracy (1st in SG: Accuracy) could play a big role this week.

Add in his has one of the best short games the Top 30 (8th in putting and 12th in scrambling), and he has the best form value among my three Bets to Win.

And just like Hovland, Henley has excelled at East Lake. He has averaged 68.0 a round in his career at the Tour Championship.

Top 5 with ties

With only 30 golfers in the field this week, I had to look at the Top 5 with ties odds for my regular Top 20 plays section.

Tommy Fleetwood: Fleetwood looks to defend his title but he’s not in the same form as last year. But he’s in the Top 15 on Tour in 5 of the 11 categories I used this week on my spreadsheet.

Si Woo Kim: Si Woo has been unlucky this season on Tour as he comes into the Tour Championship without a win this season despite the No. 5 golfer in the FedEX Cup standings. But he is one of the best approach players on Tour this season and if he makes a few putts, a Top 5 finish is well within reach.

I’m a true fan of the PPR format and been known to do a spreadsheet or two for NFL DFS.
