We head into our third major of the year for my Betting Guide as Shinnecock Hills Golf Club plays host to the 126th rendition of the U.S. Open.
And we can expect some high variance on the course this week as Shinnecock sits just off the shore on Long Island. The course has no protection from the wind as it is mostly a treeless course as the course officials restored it to its original windswept, links-style character.
And Shinnecock has had its share of unpredictability as bad pin placements in the past has disrupted play during the last two visits for the U.S. Open.
So the key this week will getting our golfers past the cut and let the crazy happen as it will.
Now, I get back to last week’s play at the RBC Canadian Open, as Tommy Fleetwood was in the mixed for me on Sunday, but struggled on the back 9.
I did have two placements in the Top 20 with ties betting card as Doug Ghim, who mentioned last week in this story, and Alex Fitzpatrick, who had I had on my final card featured on my X page and our Blitz’s Discord, had Top 20 finishes.
But let’s get back into this week’s plays for the U.S. Open! Odds are from DraftKings.
Betting Guide: Bets to Win

Matt Fitzpatrick (-2250)
My betting card and my DFS lineups will be eerily similar this week, so I’m either going to have a big week or crash and burn mightily.
Fitzpatrick is the only current Top 10 favorite I’ve selected so far and I will release my complete card later on Wednesday.
But I can’t ignore one of the best players on the PGA Tour this season and a former U.S. Open champion.
And his form seems to be peaking again after last week’s T2 at the RBC Canadian Open.
Fitzpatrick comes into the week with seven categories I used this week in the Top 10 on Tour. But it’s his No. 4 ranking in shots gained: Approach that is the breadwinner this week.
All three of my Bets to Win rank in the Top 10 in SG: Approach heading into this week’s U.S. Open.
Si Woo Kim (+3600)
I love, love, love Si Woo this week, thanks to his high marks on my DFS spreadsheet this week.
He is the head and shoulders top play in DFS thanks to his undervalued $7,200 DK price, but like Fitzpatrick, Si Woo’s approach game is off the charts this week.
He ranks 6th in SG: Approach and he is the top golfer in all three approach buckets I used this week for Shinnecock (150-175, 175-200 and 200-225).
Plus, he’s due for a victory. He’s made the cut in every event he’s played this year, including 8 Top 10 finishes.
He’s a smart money play in both the betting and DFS markets.
Kurt Kitayama (+6900)
I’m going to ignore the fact Kitayama has never made a cut in all four his previous U.S. Open, but Shinnecock is a perfect course to break that streak.
Kitayama is ranked 8th in SG: Approach and he comes into the week with five straight Top 25 finishes, including three Top 10s.
Just like Si Woo, Kitayama may be due for a win.
Top 20 with ties
Adam Scott (+210): Even though I haven’t been able to hit a winner in the past month, my Top 20 picks have been saving me. Scott, just like the three golfers I mentioned, is having a stellar year in SG: Approach. He’s currently No. 1 on the Tour in that category.
Ryan Gerard (+300): I’m going to ride Gerard’s solid form from his past two events (T2 at the Memorial and a T10 at the Charles Schwab Challenge), but he’s also No. 7 in SG: Approach this season.
One and Done
Scottie Scheffler: I know most have played Scottie already, but if you have been holding your ace in the hole, now is the time to play him. He is a U.S. Open victory away from the career Grand Slam and his game is built to play well on tough golf courses.
