The NFL offseason is in full swing! Free agency started one week ago, leading many players to sign with new organizations. Fantasy football managers need to stay current on all the latest players changing teams, as their fantasy value will surely be impacted.
Justin Fields QB (NYJ)
The New York Jets experiment with Aaron Rodgers was short-lived. The Jets decided to move on from Rodgers and quickly found his replacement in free agency. The team signed Justin Fields to a two-year contract worth $40 million.
Fields will be under center for the Jets and have the best-supporting cast of his career. Fields will reunite with his former Ohio State Buckeye teammate, Wide Receiver, Garrett Wilson. Reports are that Wilson is ‘thrilled’ that his team signed his former college teammate.
Fields’ fantasy football value is the biggest riser of the offseason so far. Last season, Fields started the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers and led the team to a 4-2 record before he was sent to the bench in favor of Russell Wilson. Fields has shown he can be a fantasy cheat code, scoring points using his arm and his legs. In 2022, Fields finished the season as the QB7 after a poor start to the season. In that season, from Weeks 5 through 17, Fields averaged 23.5 fantasy points per game.
With a better-supporting cast and the opportunity to start the entire season, Fields could easily finish the 2025 season as a top-10 fantasy quarterback.
Evan Engram TE (DEN)
The Denver Broncos had a great season making the playoffs behind Rookie Quarterback, Bo Nix. Nix threw for 29 touchdowns on his way to a top-10 finish at his position. The Broncos had a subpar tight end room last season as Adam Trautman led the position with only 188 receiving yards. The team went out and addressed this need by signing Evan Engram to a two-year $23 million deal.
Engram will instantly be the leader in the Broncos’ tight end room and will be one of Nix’s top targets. Last season, Nix’s top target was Wide Receiver, Courtland Sutton, who caught a team-high 81 passes. The next highest in receptions was Running Back, Javonte Williams with 52 catches. Needless to say, the Broncos had to acquire some pass-catching playmakers this offseason to improve a poor group outside of Sutton. Engram brings versatility to the Broncos offense and Head Coach, Sean Payton will be sure to get every ounce of production out of his new tight end next season.
Najee Harris RB (LAC)
Najee Harris is a controversial player when it comes to NFL fans as many point to his rather inefficient rushing numbers. On the other hand, Harris has surpassed 1,000 yards rushing in each of his four seasons in the NFL, while also never missing a game.
After four seasons in Pittsburgh, Harris signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers had a successful first season making the playoffs under new Head Coach, Jim Harbaugh.
There might not have been a better landing spot for Harris than the Chargers. Harris fits right into the style of play Harbaugh is looking for in a running back. The Chargers want to establish the run by wearing down the opposing defenses with tough runners, and that is exactly what Harris is bringing to this offense at 6’1”, and 242 pounds.
It will be intriguing to see what kind of receiving work Harris will get in Los Angeles. Harris has shown the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, most notably in his rookie season where he caught 74 balls.
Harris should be in for another top-24 season at his position, and if touchdowns and receiving work bounce his way, Harris could be a sleeper to finish inside the top-12.
Raheem Mostert RB (LV)
We are only one season removed from Raheem Mostert finishing as the RB5 and scoring 21 touchdowns! Mostert converted into a depth role last season, backing up De’Von Achane.
Mostert is departing from Miami and is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year $2.1 million contract. Mostert is joining a depleted running back room with the only other notable name being Zamir White. It’s likely the Raiders want to address the running back position in the NFL Draft. On the off chance the team doesn’t draft a running back, Mostert could be in line for a high-volume season.
Mostert’s value all depends on what the team does in the draft. If the Raiders decide to draft a running back, Mostert will most likely just be a handcuff. If the Raiders decide not to add another running back, Mostert could have another season being a weekly flex play.
