Headgear 100: Best 2025 College Football Teams Day 100

Offseason hibernation is over. The days are getting longer, but time is getting shorter until Ireland gets introduced to Farmaggedon. Now is the time to start learning about teams for 2025, whether it’s the new QB for the reigning National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes or who has the best chance to win Conference-USA. This series will cover my top 100 preseason teams for 2025 as we count down 100 days until Week 0. We will dive into a new team each day as we draw closer to the college football season.

Countdown to Kickoff: Day 100

Coming in at No. 100 in our 2025 preseason rankings: UL Monroe

UL Monroe is coached by Bryant Vincent. He is in his 2nd year with a program record of 5- 7.

UL Monroe returns 64% from the 2024 team: 57% on the Offense and 72% on the Defense. According to 247Sports, the Warhawks finished the 2025 cycle, landing 14 recruits and ending the recruiting cycle with the 118th nationally ranked class, good for 12/14 in the Sun Belt. Along with their high school recruiting, UL Monroe has brought in 15 players through the transfer portal and has a portal ranking of 112. 15% of the 2025 roster will be made up of new additions.

Head Coach Bryant Vincent will double as Offensive Coordinator again this year. He looks to improve the offense that averaged 20.2 points per game in 2024. The Warhawks finished 2024 with 60.4 plays per game (128th nationally) and a pace of 30.2 seconds per play (130th). The offense averaged 37.6 runs for 169.2 per game and 21 pass attempts for 135 yards per game with a 62-37 run-pass play call split. The overall offensive success rate was 37%.

Up front, UL Monroe returns 52% of Offensive Line production from last year, with 3 defined starters for 2025. Aidan Armenta will be returning at the helm for his redshirt sophomore year. In 2024, Armenta finished as the 116th-ranked fantasy QB with 8.4 fantasy points per game. In 75% of games, he passed for at least 89 yards and scored at least 2.25 fantasy points, with a season high of 32.6 and a low of -2.4. The Warhawks used the spring to focus on improving last season’s poor 33% passing success rate.

Armenta will look to pass-catchers Jacob Godfrey and Davon Wells, along with transfer Nic Trujillo, to step up this year. Godfrey totaled 265 yards and 2 touchdowns off 24 receptions last year. That earned him the 312th rank among wide receivers in 2024 with 5.4 fantasy points per game. He totaled 1.6 fantasy points in 75% of games, setting the statistical bar at 2 total yards and 1 reception. His best game was against James Madison, where he caught 7 passes for 60 yards and 1 touchdown.

Tight End Nate Sullivan Jr. will look to solidify himself as an offensive weapon. In 2024, Sullivan Jr. caught 14 passes for 133 yards. Finishing as tight end 153, Sullivan Jr. averaged 2.3 fantasy points.

With the departure of starter Ahmad Hardy, the UL Monroe backfield returns 17% of rushing production from last year. Hardy’s skill set complemented the game script, leading him to 237 carries for 1351 yards and 13 touchdowns. Hardy finished as the 15th-ranked RB with 18.5 fantasy points per game. Look for transfers Braylon Mcreynolds or Tyrell Reed Jr. to fill the hole of the 52% of carries vacated and improve on the team’s poor success running the ball in 2024 at 40%

After finishing 2024 with a record of 5-7, UL Monroe enters 2025 with the 74th-ranked strength of schedule. The Warhawks will play in front of the home crowd 5 times. Their only home stretch will be in early November.

Our model predicts a 4-8 record for UL Monroe. Our model gives the Warhawks a greater than 75%-win expectancy in 1 game, a 50-75% win expectancy in 3 games, a 25-50% win expectancy in 3 games, and a less than 25%-win expectancy in 5 games.

The Warhawks are predicted to finish 13th in the Sun Belt, according to their conference championship odds of +3500 at DraftKings.
