NFL Week 4 Must-Sit

Chase Brown

Chase Brown is one of my favorite players in the NFL. When Joe Burrow got hurt, I thought it would be okay because I thought back to a Thursday Night Clash in 2023 between the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars. Joe Burrow was out for the year, and Jake Browning led the Bengals to an impressive performance. This was Chase Brown’s coming-out party, and it was so exciting, but by the performance that we received on Sunday vs. the Vikings, I have lost hope. It was extremely bad. He has a total of 93 yards in 47 rushing attempts. His bread and butter, which is the passing game, has also been tough, with only 43 receiving yards in 8 receptions.

I do not want to sell Chase Brown quite yet, but I really cannot start him Monday against a tough Denver Broncos defense. He may become a sit we regret, but I need to see production before we get back on the Chase Brown Bandwagon.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt

Jacory Croskey-Merritt was disappointing in his first week as an RB1 in his offense, mostly because he was not really an RB1. He only played 40% of the snaps and got lucky with a touchdown. Now, the Washington Commanders had routed the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in a 41-24 win that looked a lot closer than it was. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, at some point, will be this team’s RB1, but I do not believe it will be week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons. Sit him in week four.

Tee Higgins

Tee Higgins finished as the wide receiver 93 on Sunday in the Cincinnati Bengals’ full-blown collapse against the Minnesota Vikings. We thought that Jake Browning would be serviceable in the absence of Joe Burrow, but that may not be true. Higgins has had his explosion games and his difficult ones throughout the years. I do not anticipate an easy day for him. Now, he may get better looks than Ja’Marr Chase because he will be blanketed by Patrick Surtain II. The Denver Secondary has good second options as well, but at least Surtain will not be his Kryptonite. Higgins is a player I try to move on from anyway. His inconsistency will only get worse the more we get away from Burrow’s absence.

Calvin Ridley

Calvin Ridley and Cam Ward seemed like a match made in Heaven as the preseason rolled on this summer. All of the reports out of camp seemed insanely promising for the combo, but the results are all but promising for the combo. Now, the target numbers are there for the two, as Ridley has been targeted for a total of 21 times in the last three weeks, but the bad part is that they have only connected for eight of those. While Cam Ward is still getting his sea legs under him in the NFL, it may be beneficial to stay away from everyone in that passing game and offense except for Tony Pollard. Elic Ayomanor remains a deeper league flex play as he continues to develop rapport with the rookie Ward.

Jared Goff

Jared Goff has looked good two weeks in a row. He dominated the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football, but the run game was more the Aggressor in that dominating win as he only threw for one touchdown and a hair over 200 passing yards. Goff is a fantasy streamer and not a player who is a week-to-week starter, but coming off a good fantasy game and a good performance in primetime, some players might be willing to start him. Bench him against the Cleveland Browns. They are not a very good team, but their defense is for real. They held the Green Bay Packers to 10 total points and an embarrassing performance from almost every fantasy-relevant player on the team. They also bottled up Jordan Love pretty badly. Do not trust Goff this week.
