We are heading into the second half of the season for our Defensive Streamers, and hopefully, the plays have brought home some victories.
New England and Kansas City had good weeks for us last week, and Indianapolis didn’t kill us with its ho-hum performance.
And this week is showing some promise of some solid spots for defenses to shine.
Let’s into this week’s Defensive Streamers!
Defensive Streamers
Los Angeles Chargers at Tennessee
I’m going to continue my trend of streaming a defense against rookie quarterback Cam Ward and the Titans.
Tennessee’s offense is improving but not a rate that I don’t want to start defense against them. It has given up a league-leading 34 sacks this season, which is 3.8 sacks a game.
And the Chargers bring in a defense that has played better on the road this season.
Los Angeles has recorded half of their 22 sacks and has forced 6 interceptions in its three road games.
Plus, the Chargers are a Top 10 defense in yards allowed this season, giving up 296.9 yards a game (7th).
Detroit home against Minnesota
After not recording a sack in their season-opening loss at Green Bay, the Lions have recorded 23 sacks in their last six games.
Then you add in their ball-hawking play that has forced four fumbles and seven interceptions during the same span of games.
Now Detroit will face J.J. McCarthy who is coming off a high-ankle injury he suffered in the Vikings second game. Veteran Carson Wentz, who started the last five games for Minnesota, was placed on season-ending IR with a left shoulder injury.
The Lions enter the game with the 8th best defense in the NFL, giving up only 300 yards a game. And they are better defense at home, giving up only 279.7 yards a game at Ford Field.
The Vikings bring a bottom 10 offense into the contest, only averaging 296.6 yards a game, but are slightly worst on the road, gaining 284.4 yards a game.
Jacksonville at Las Vegas
Jacksonville gets a juicy matchup against turnover-prone Geno Smith and the Raiders.
Las Vegas enters the contest with the third worse turnovers per game at minus-0.7, while the Jaguars come in as one of the top teams in forcing turnovers, forcing 1.1 turnovers a game. Smith has accounted for for nine interceptions and one fumble lost.
And the Raiders have one of the worst offenses in the NFL this season. They are ranked 29th with a 276.4 yards a game average.
And yes the Jaguars did give up 35 points in loss to the LA Rams in London, however, their defense only gave up 271 yards of total offense.
This was after the Jacksonville defense had given up 286 or more yards passing in three straight games.
Now they face a Raiders offense that only gained 95 yards of total offense in its last outing, and for the season, Las Vegas only averages 182.7 passing yards a game. But they have been even worst at home in the passing game, averaging 141.7 yards a game.
