Offseason Changes
The Buffalo Bills have made some significant roster changes following some coaching changes made back in January, leaving Joe Brady at the helm. The biggest needs heading into free agency were WR, LB, and a reworking of the defensive line after switching to a 3-4 defense.
D.J. Moore will be an impactful player for the Bills in 2026, but other than Khalil Shakir, the receiving room still needs improvement. Terrel Bernard had a lackluster season following a 4-year, $50 million contract extension last offseason, although he was injured and missed 6 games. The defensive line will feature Greg Rousseau and newly acquired Edge Bradley Chubb, while Ed Oliver will transition to a 3-4 DE, and Deone Walker will likely take on the Nose Tackle role.
Positional Needs: WR, LB, EDGE, CB, IOL
WR Omar Cooper Jr.
24th on the Blitz draft board, Omar Cooper Jr. plays the game like a big, reliable target you can trust when things get tight. He’s not the fastest guy on the field; however, he did run an impressive 4.42 at the NFL Combine. Where he lacks in elite-level speed, he makes up for it with physicality and strong hands, especially when the ball’s in the air. He’s the type of receiver who’s comfortable going up in traffic and coming down with it, an archetype that Buffalo has targeted in recent drafts.
2025 Stats: 16 GP | 69 Rec | 937 Yds | 13 TDs
WR Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston is the 26th ranked prospect on the Blitz Board, the 6’4” wideout is a big bodied machine, using his size to create mismatches. He’s got good size and uses it well, but what really shows is his body control and ability to adjust to the ball in the air. Boston did not clock in a 40-time at at NFL Combine nor did he at his pro day.
2025 Stats: 12 GP | 62 Rec | 881 Yds | 11 TDs
WR KC Concepcion
The Rochester native displayed great talents last season for the aggies, using his route running abilities to create separation. Concepcion ranks 30th on the Blitz board, Concepcion is arguably one of the top route runners in this class. The Bills haven’t had a route runner of his caliber since Stefon Diggs.
2025 Stats: 13 GP | 61 Rec | 919 Yds | 9 TDs
LB C.J. Allen
23rd on the Blitz Board, C.J. Allen is the only defender, barring anyone sliding down the board, that I would be comfortable with drafting. Allen has all-pro potential, plays fast and aggressively, especially on defense. He’s always around the ball, reads plays quickly, and isn’t afraid to step up and make a hit. His style is physical, high-energy, and built on instincts.
2025 Stats: 13 GP | 47 Tackles | 8 TFLs | 3.5 Sacks | 2 FF | 1FR
Recap
Personally, I am weary of drafting another WR in the “tier 2” category of the class; however, the plus side to the WRs that may be available is that all 3 provide a very unique fit in the Bills’ offense. Cooper Jr is the most balanced; he doesn’t do any singular thing badly, but there’s also not one elite-defining aspect of his game. Denzel Boston is the big-bodied guy who can come down with contested catches. Lastly, of the WRs, Concepcion is the elite-level route runner. Of these WRs, Concepcion is my favorite. Buffalo has desperately needed an elite route runner since the departure of Stefon Diggs before the 2024 season.
With the addition of D.J. Moore, the Bills may opt to draft elsewhere, perhaps on defense, and if they do, C.J. Allen is the guy. Regarded as the #1 LB in the draft, the duo of Allen and Bernard can elevate this defense to another level, plus why stop at one Allen leading the Bills when you can have two!
