Best College Football Teams 2025

Welcome to the 2025 college football preseason

Offseason hibernation is over. The days are getting longer, but time is getting shorter until Ireland gets introduced to Farmaggedon. Now is the time to start learning about teams for the 2025 season, whether it’s the new QB for the reigning National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes or who has the best chance to win Conference-USA. This series will cover my top 100 preseason college football rankings for 2025 as we count down 100 days until Week 0. We will dive into a new team each day as we draw closer to the college football season.

Countdown to Kickoff: Day 94

Coming in at No. 95 in our 2025 preseason rankings: Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

Louisiana is coached by Michael Desormeaux, who is in his 4th year with the program and has a program record of 23-17. Louisiana finished the 2024 season with a record of 10-4 and 1st in the Sun Belt West.

Louisiana returns only 41% of production from the 2024 team: 41% on the Offense and 41% on the Defense. According to 247Sports, the Huskies finished the 2025 cycle landing 20 recruits and ending the recruiting cycle with the 81st overall ranked class, which was good for 4th in the Sun Belt. Along with their high school recruiting, Louisiana has brought in 7 players through the transfer portal and has a portal ranking of 127. 27% of the 2025 roster will be made up of new additions.

Offensive Coordinator Tim Leger, heading into his fourth year with the program, will lead the offense that put up 30.2 points per game last season (37th nationally). The Huskies finished 2024 with 64.9 plays per game (106th) and a pace of 28.7 seconds per play (116th). The offense averaged 34.8 runs (85th) for 170.9 per game (46th), along with 28.6 pass attempts (86th) for 239.9 yards per game (49th). The offense was a balanced attack, with a 53%-47% run-pass play call split. The overall offensive success rate was 45%.

Up front, Louisiana brings back 46% of its offensive line production from last year, including three clear-cut starters for 2025. With the departure of 2024 starting quarterback Ben Wooldridge, Daniel Beale will compete with Ole Miss transfer Walker Howard for the starting position during fall camp. In 2024, Hampton finished with 23.22 fantasy points per game. In 75% of games, Hampton passed for at least 198 yards and 1 touchdown to score at least 21.1 fantasy points, with a season high of 42.85 and a low of -1.75. The new starting quarterback will be tasked with following up the team’s 47% passing success rate from last season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will rely on pass catcher Robert Williams to step up this year with the departure of 5 of the top 6 receivers from 2024. 2024 leader Lance LeGendre totaled 826 yards and 9 touchdowns and led the team with 49 receptions last year. In 75% of his games, he scored at least 8.7 fantasy points. His best game was against Wake Forest, where he caught 6 passes for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tight End Caden Jensen will look to solidify himself as an offensive weapon after Terrance Carter decided to transfer to Texas Tech. In 2024, Carter was 2nd on the team with 48 receptions for 689 yards and scored 4 touchdowns for an average of 10.8 fantasy points per game.

Bill Davis and Zylan Perry lead the backfield that returns 65% of rushing production from last year.
