Cam Skattebo’s Impact on Tyrone Tracy Jr. for 2025

Fantasy Coaching ADS 1

Rookie Cam Skattebo brings the thunder to New York, complementing Tyrone Tracy Jr.‘s skillset well for the Giants heading into 2025. The fourth-round pick brings 1,700+ rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns from 2024, as the “Skatt Man” or “Nature Boy” could be the key piece in filling out this backfield.

While the former fifth-round pick, Tracy, from the 2024 NFL Draft had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage as a rookie, the fumbling issues and lack of “tough inside the tackle” yards were missing from his portfolio as a former receiver at Purdue.

The G-men still have veteran Devin “Motor” Singletary, as he can potentially rotate in if he ends up making the roster after a down season. He was last year’s free agent pickup in replacing Saquon Barkley, but now with Skattebo, New York is coming into 2025 with better backfield options.

Skattebo is the Perfect Partner to Tracy’s Skillset

The 23-year-old from ASU had a highlight reel final season, as he brings even more receiving ability, but also paired with power as a true grinder. Skattebo had 2,300 yards from scrimmage in a single season, with over 600 receiving yards that got him 5th place voting for the Heisman.

The 5’11” and 215 lbs. back gives not just size but attitude to the position, as Tracy’s style is more finesse, his size being similar at 5’11” and 210 lbs. Skattebo is an angry downhill runner the Giants were missing last year, as both can play each other’s skillsets in New York.

He just has three fumbles in his collegiate career, as Skattebo played two seasons at Arizona State and Sacramento State. That is as reliable as it gets, with five last season for the 25-year-old Tracy as the lead back last year. Even with speed concerns, watching Skattebo, him falling to day three of the draft was interesting.

Both will split time and as good as Tracy has been, I just don’t see how he can fend off Skattebo by the end of the year. His play style reminscient of a mix of James Connor and Kyren Williams, backs that have physicality with the finesse to be a weapon as a pass-catcher.
