Official visits have been occurring for a few weekends now. Recruits are currently visiting their favorite schools. Some are narrowing down their decisions, while others are committing. The majority of 5-star players have committed, with some left open for business. Texas A&M continues to build on a #1 class that shouldn’t be passed. Brent Venables is having his best recruiting cycle with Oklahoma. Notre Dame is shooting for its second straight top-5 class, and Ohio State is ready to make huge waves soon.
Texas A&M Aggies
Current Ranking: 1
The Aggies are rolling, and the oil money is flowing. Texas A&M currently has 4 5-stars to its name, with two more 5-stars being heavily predicted to College Station. #1 OT Mark Matthews, #1 S Kamarui Dorsey, #5 EDGE Zyron Forstall, and #3 IOL Kennedy Brown represent A&M’s top committed talent.
#2 IOL Albert Simien and #6 WR Eric McFarland are the next 5-stars projected to land in A&M’s class. The rest of the class currently consists of the #7 CB, #2 S, #10 WR, #4 DL, and #10 EDGE. A&M holds commitments from 9 of the nation’s top 61 players. Head coach Mike Elko led A&M to its most wins since 2012. The boosters and recruits are responding.
Miami Hurricanes
Current Ranking: 2
After a national championship appearance, recruits answered Mario Cristobal’s call. The Canes currently sit with 3 5-star commits, along with #2 QB Israel Abrams. #2 CB Donte Wright, #4 WR Nick Lennear, and #4 EDGE Jaiden Bryant represent the Canes’ top commits. Despite the prominence of football in Florida, Miami’s approach on the recruiting front has been nationwide. Of Miami’s seven commits inside the top-150, six are from other states.
After signing the #7 class in last year’s cycle, Miami is looking to lock in a top-5 class in 2027. Miami doesn’t have as many promising predictions remaining as schools like Texas A&M or Ohio State, but the Canes should sit comfortably in the top 7 or 8 in the rankings when it’s all said and done. That’s plenty high enough for a school that also sits near the top of transfer portal spending.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Current Ranking: 6
Same thing, different day for Ohio State. The Buckeyes currently hold commitments from two 5-stars, including #1 EDGE David Jacobs and #3 WR Jamier Brown. Jacobs is the #1 overall player on 247 Sports. Ohio State rounds out the top of its recruiting class with three other top-100 players. Ohio State also holds the #1 blue-chip ratio amongst teams in the top-10.
The Buckeyes aren’t done, though. 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges and 5-star DL Marcus Fakatou are currently predicted to join the class at some point. With a projection of 4 5-star commits and potentially the best blue-chip ratio, Ryan Day is aiming for a top-3 class in this cycle.
Texas Longhorns
Current Ranking: 11
The centerpiece of the Longhorns’ recruiting class is currently #1 WR Easton Royal. He’s currently the only top-50 commit in the Texas class. Other players, such as DL Kasi Currie and TE Brock Williams, are ranked in the top-100. It does appear that Texas will soon lock down #1 CB John Meredith. Perhaps the biggest headline heading into this weekend is that Texas will host #2 WR Monshun Sales. If the Longhorns manage to land Meredith and Sales, they’ll land 3 of the top 8 players in the class.
Like Alabama, which appears later in this list, Texas doesn’t have the roster space to bring in many players. Many of Texas’s impact players will have 1-2 years of eligibility remaining after this upcoming season. In 2025, the majority of this team’s production came from freshmen and sophomores. We could be looking at a relatively small, yet elite Texas class.
Oklahoma Sooners
Current Ranking: 3
Congratulations to Brent Venables for finally earning the trust of the Oklahoma boosters. After finishing 15th and 16th in back-to-back recruiting cycles, Oklahoma is looking at a top-10 class in 2027. #2 OT Kaeden Penny and #4 OT Cooper Hackett are the 5-stars in the class, while #4 CB Gabriel Osborne Jr, #3 TE Seneca Driver, and #2 LB Cooper Witten round out OU’s top-50 players.
While the class sits at #3 for now, it will likely fall. The Sooners are predicted to have just one more top-100 prospect, and teams like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and Georgia are lurking behind them. OU has the second-lowest average player rating in the top-10, but a top 7-10 finish for Brent Venables is a fantastic jump.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Current Ranking: 4
Notre Dame currently possesses one 5-star commitment- #2 OT Olu Olubobola. #3 DL David Folorunsho, #8 CB Xavier Hasan, #11 CB Ace Alston, and #8 IOL James Halter make up Notre Dame’s top-100 commits. The Fighting Irish have the fewest commits of any team ranked in the top 5.
In addition to its current haul, Notre Dame is the heavy favorite to land 5-star LB Kaden Henderson and 5-star EDGE Abraham Sesay. Sesay visited ND this past weekend, while Henderson will visit this weekend. ND just recently gained all the momentum for Henderson, and this visit will likely wrap up his recruitment.
Georgia Bulldogs
Current Ranking: 13
We’re gonna switch gears here and talk about a couple of teams that we aren’t used to seeing outside the top 5. Georgia’s class is currently giving some fans cause for concern, as the Bulldogs possess more 3-star commitments than blue-chip commitments. Regardless, #1 RB Kemon Spell and #2 TE Jaxon Dollar represent Georgia’s two 5-star commitments. #9 OT Kennedee Jackson rounds out Georgia’s top-100 commits.
Georgia is still battling for some top guys, including 5-star DL Marcus Fakatou. The Bulldogs are battling uphill in that one, but you never know in recruiting.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Current Ranking: 48
Being low in the rankings at this point in the cycle isn’t uncommon for Alabama. The Crimson Tide has been notorious for being outside the top 25 at the start of summer during the last two cycles. The worry for Alabama fans lies in the battles being lost. Currently, #1 QB Elijah Haven is the Tide’s only 5-star commit and only top-100 commit.
The Tide is looking to rebound in the next couple of weeks, currently predicted to land #5 CB Hayden Stepp, #8 WR and Rivals 7-on-7 MVP Osani Gayles, and #6 DL Mitchell Turner. Insiders within Alabama say to expect a small recruiting class. The Tide has just 7 seniors/graduates on the roster. However, for anyone who went into a coma a few years ago, an Alabama ranking this low can be jaw-dropping. 2027 will likely be Alabama’s first time outside the top-10 in over 15 years.
Virginia Tech Hokies
Current Ranking: 18
Virginia Tech isn’t pushing for a top-5 or top-10 class. I just wanted to take a moment to point out the movement happening in Blacksburg. In the approximately 20 years before James Franklin arrived at VA Tech, the Hokies never signed more than 7 blue-chip players in a cycle. Now, VA Tech claims 13 blue-chip commits on the 247 Composite rankings.
In June 2026, Virginia Tech received a $75 million donation from an anonymous family. The funds were split between the honors college and the athletic department. Virginia Tech is looking to plant itself in the top tier of ACC contenders in the future.
