College Football Week 4 is here, and before we dive deep into this week’s action, let’s recap what happened last week. Last week’s picks included Minnesota -23.5, Colorado State +18, Richmond -11.5, Albany -1.5, and Youngstown State ML. Those sides left me with a 1-4 record last week, and my first week being right at or below .500. The biggest issues last week were with me underestimating BYU, as I have now done twice this year, and CSU QB Hauss Hejny getting injured. The other issue was with the Albany line flipping from the time I posted this article until kickoff, which made Albany the underdog in the game. Anyway, let’s try to bounce back this week and find some winners.
College Football Week 4: Connecticut Huskies @ Miami (OH) Redhawks
The weeks first pick takes us to paradise city, and by that I mean Miami…Ohio. The Redhawks have to been feeling let down from last weeks giveaway to rival Cincinnati even though they were able to get out to a double digit lead early. This week they welcome the UConn Huskies to town who are led by former Toledo Rocket coach Jason Candle.
My last sentence is part of where the edge lies in this one. Coach Candle is familiar with the land of MACtion, and the other side of the edge is Miami still being in their feelings from last week. Also, my ratings projections have this game as more of a pick’em than a 3-point spread. Earlier this week, this line was around 4/4.5, and now it is at 3, so grab it before it potentially goes under 3, and let’s ride with the Huskies.
College Football Week 4: Missouri Tigers @ Mississippi State Bulldogs:
My next pick for this week takes me to Starkvegas, where we will see the Bulldogs host the Missouri Tigers. I have only really watched one Missouri game this year, against Kansas, and during that game Austin Simmons looked incredible playing QB. Simmons is smart with the ball, accurate, and has great arm power and with that being said I think Missouri is being underestimated here.
Simmons also transferred from Ole Miss, as he was there last year and the starter before he was injured and the rise of Trinidad Chambliss, and earlier this week Simmons mentioned that he is not at all worried about the Mississippi State fan cowbells. We have seen the line go from 6.5 to 6, and I think Missouri is a lot closer to the Bulldogs than that, and I will try to find and buy Missouri at +7 here.
College Football Week 4: Air Force Falcons @ Nevada Wolfpack
The last game I was going to be on this week is being played in Reno, NV and coincidentally I will be in Las Vegas this weekend! Nevada has looked way better than how they played last week at Middle Tennessee State, and this week they have our country’s sky police coming to town. Air Force handled Duquesne easily in week 1 and then they had to deal with North Dakota State State the week after and lost.
Originally, I was going to be on Nevada; however, I looked at the betting splits over at VSiN and found something interesting. The majority, and by that I mean around 95%, of the money has been on Nevada all week. However, the line jumped from 4 to 5.5 in favor of Air Force, and with that being the case, I will lean Air Force here. Let’s just call it an experiment, if you will, and see what happens.
