Defensive Streamers: Battle of winless teams highlights Week 4

Defensive Streamers Week 4

Let’s see if I can keep up with the success with this week’s Defensive Streamers Week 4.

Last week I gave out Seattle, Indianapolis, and Jacksonville as my top Defensive Streamers plays, and all three delivered.

The Seahawks and the Colts each recorded defensive scores to go along with multiple sack games in their easy wins against New Orleans and Tennessee, respectively. The Jaguars shut down Houston with two interceptions, two sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 17-10 victory.

It’s time to move on to this week’s top plays!

Defensive Streamers

Detroit (48 percent on Sleeper)

If one were only looking at the scoreboard, they would think the Detroit defense is not elite.

The Lions are giving 26.0 points per game in their first three games, but if you look deeper in the box score, Detroit have better than average defensive stats.

The Lions are 13th overall in defensive yards allowed at 307.7 yards per game and are ranked 11th vs. the run and 15th vs. the pass. The Lions are giving up 4.99 yards a play this season (elite defenses on average allow 5.2-5.5 per play).

Detroit has gotten after the QB the last two games, too, recording 11 sacks in wins vs. Chicago and Baltimore.

And now they face Cleveland and its sluggish offense led by Joe Flacco.

The Browns are averaging only 290.0 yards per game this season to rank 22nd. They are 29th in run offense and 16th in pass offense. And they have given up 2.0 sacks a game.

Plus, the Browns are 1-9 in their last 10 road games.

Tennessee (10 percent on Sleeper) at Houston (70 percent on Sleeper)

Obviously, I’m still picking on rookie QB Cam Ward and the Tennessee offense, but Houston’s offense has been just as inept this season, as well.

Both teams enter the game averaging just 4.63 yards per play and rank in the bottom 5 for total offense per game through the first three games.

The Titans are averaging 222.3 yards (31st) of total offense a game, while the Texans are averaging 267.3 yards (29th) of total offense a game.

Ward has struggled passing the ball as he has only completed 55 percent of his passes. And mixture of bad offensive line play and Ward holding on to the ball too long has resulted in a league-leading 15 sacks allowed. The Texans already have 9 sacks in the early season.

The Titans have put little pressure on QBs this season; however, they have forced 5 turnovers this season, including 4 in their Week 1 loss to Denver.

As for Houston, C.J. Stroud is in his third year in the league and has struggled putting up solid numbers this season, despite having one of the top WRs in Nico Collins. Collins, who averaged 83.6 yards a game in 2024, is only averaging 60.3 yards a game this season.

Despite both teams being winless, the Texans are a 7-point home favorite, and the total is below 40 points at 38.5.

There may not be much offensive fireworks in this game again for both teams.
