D.K. Metcalf Suspended 2 Games

Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf has been suspended 2 games by the NFL following an altercation with a fan during the teams week 16 game in Detroit.

Immediately following the incident, telltale contradictory reports began to surface as to what caused the altercation, none of which hold credibility.

Metcalf may have been frustrated by his performance at that point in the game, or the fan crossed a line heckling the star wide receiver. Either or both can be true, but his actions were clearly inexcusable.

Fans pay an inordinate amount of money to attend professional football games, while the players, coaches, and staff are professionals, the fans are expected to behave in a professional manner as well.

Whether Metcalf or the fan is at fault, we may never know, but the professional, D.K. Metcalf, is expected to conduct himself in a professional manner, regardless of the fans actions.

The 2 game suspension means that Metcalf will miss the remainder of the Steelers’ regular season without pay. The team travels to Cleveland to play in a potentially division-clinching AFC North matchup, then hosts the Baltimore Ravens for the final week of the regular season.

The suspension comes at a most inopportune time as the Steelers’ offense has begun to click, averaging 28 points per game in their last 3 games.
