Jahmel “6themenace” Flowers: Built for Greatness, Driven for the NFL

For Jahmel Flowers, football isn’t just a one-dimensional sport—it’s a way of life. Since his early days in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Flowers has become a force on the Field at Lock Haven and Virginia Union. His path to the 2025 NFL Draft has been built on sheer will and determination to thrive. Now, as he prepares for the opportunity of a lifetime, Jahmel reflects on the trials and experiences that have shaped him into the fierce warrior he is today.

Championship Pedigree: Winning a conference championship at Virginia Union was more than just a significant trophy to add to the collection- it was about becoming a competitor at the highest level. Jahmel praises coach Solomon Brown and Alvin Parker for instilling a mindset of accountability, discipline, and championship pedigree.

“The standard is the standard and they wouldn’t let me slip. The experience molded me into someone who takes pride in everything I do. If you weren’t bought into the program, you wouldn’t be there. And that’s just like life- if you’re not fully committed to something, you wouldn’t succeed.” – Flowers

This mindset has stayed with him as he transitions to the professional level. The same intensity and dedication that fueled his championship run drove him closer to his NFL aspirations.

Evolution: Since Jahmel’s first college snap, he has transformed himself in a multitude of ways. Growth was a major factor as he learned that sheer talent alone wouldn’t be enough to thrive at the collegiate level. His commitment to becoming a true student of the game has been a major key in his development.

“You can’t just throw the pads on and play like in high school. I had to learn my body, my nutrition, and just put in extra work in the weight room. At the Division II level, summer workouts aren’t required- but I stayed because I wanted to be special and dominate” – Flowers

That dedication paid off. Over the years, he became a versatile force- disrupting offenses in both the run and pass game, and proving he could make an impact anywhere on the field.

NFL Influences and Play Styles: When asked who he models his game after, Jahmel named Sam Williams of the Dallas Cowboys, and Dante Fowler Jr. of the Washington Commanders. Jahmel has been training alongside them and studying how they operate both on and off the field.

” I watch how they train, how they lift, how they prepare for games. I pick their brains for knowledge, and every time I get a chance to work with them, I soak up as much as I can.” – Flowers

Jahmel also went on to explain how shutting down the run is one of his most underrated aspects as well.

“People see me as a pass rusher, but I take pride in stopping the run. I play violent football. I impact the game whether I make the tackle or not- because I createpressure, I move the QB off his spot, I disrupt timing. It;’s not just about sacks, it’s about creating chaos” – Flowers

The Mental Game: Jahmel’s mental approach to the NFL Draft process is rooted in faith, relentless preparation, and focus.

“First I talk to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because without him, none of this is possible. I read my scripture daily, I surround myself with positivity, and I train like I already belong.” – Flowers

Despite the high stakes of the draft process, he stays grounded. His support system is rounded out by his faith, friends, and agent. His support system helps him eliminate uncertainty, and when it comes to proving himself at the next level, his mindset is clear:

” I know I have to dominate. I’m a small- school guy, so I can’t afford mistakes. I have to be perfect. I have to outwork everyone” – Flowers

Humble Beginnings: Jahmel takes immense pride in representing Virginia Union and Lock Haven as he moves towards his dreams of making it to the NFL.

“I want to show that HBCUs produce top talent, that we belong on this stage. And for Lock Haven, I’d be the only the secod player in school history to make it to the league- that alone is an honor” – Flowers

Jahmel carrying these names forward is described as something that is simply bigger than football. It’s about inspiring the next generation of athletes from smaller programs to put in the work and dream big to accomplish those dreams.

Thriving Under Pressure: Football is known for its high-pressure situations, however, Jahmel thrives the most when his back is against the wall. No matter what situation is placed in front of him, his approach remains the same:

” I trust my preperation. I practice like I play, so when the moment comes, i’m ready. I’m vocal- I hype up my teammates- but when it’s time, I have to win my individual battle. I back up my talk with my play” – Flowers

Once again, Jahmel gives high praise to coach Alvin Parker for teaching him the most valuable lesson:

“Nobody likes second place. If you settle for second, you’ll settle in life. Don’t be mediocre- shoot for greatness. Work hard, and good things will come” – Flowers

More Than Just a Game: For Jahmel, football is his motivation, therapy, and life purpose.

“Football has kept me out of trouble, taken me across the country, and introduced me to lifelong brothers. Winning a championship at Virginia Union- something that hadn’t been done since 2001- was history. The memories, relationships, lessons- football has given me so much, and I give it my all every single day.”

Now, as he prepares for the next chapter in his career, his message to NFL scouts is simple:

“I’m just a kid from Lawrenceville, Georgia, who truly loves this game. I’ll do whatever it takes to play at the highest level- whether thats on the 53-man roster or a practice squad. I bring energy, intensity, and relentless effort to a defense. I’m long, athletic, and disruptive. I affect the game in multiple ways- whether it’s rushing the passer, dropping into coverage, or making plays in the run game. And above all, I have a championship mindset- I attack every practice, every meeting, and every rep with the goal of being the best.” – Flowers

The road to the NFL isn’t easy. But for Jahmel, it’s just another challenge to conquer. And if his past is any indication, he’s ready to prove himself on the biggest stage.
