Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills Week 3 Preview

The Miami Dolphins travel to Buffalo for a Thursday night, AFC East matchup. Both teams have had variously different starts to the season as the Bills are 2-0 and look to step on the gas and continue their win streak, especially with the Kansas City Chiefs being 0-2, leaving Buffalo a real chance at the #1 seed this year. Miami, on the other hand, is off to a brutal 0-2 start, where they got decimated by the Daniel Jones-led Indianapolis Colts in week 1 and a close loss to the New England Patriots in week 2.

Hot & Cold

Joey Bosa has started his Bills tenure off right, compiling a respectable sack and 4 tackles, but what really pops out is that Bosa has forced 3 fumbles in just 2 games to start the season. This kind of dominance is exactly what the Buffalo Bills have been looking for in their quest for their first Lombardi.

  • Game Prediction: 1 Sack, 3 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble.

Khalil Shakir has been cold to start the year; this could be due to Keon Coleman being more productive to start the year, but Shakir is still the WR1. HC Sean McDermott expects productivity from the veteran, and having 7 catches for just 76 yards in 2 games just isn’t enough. We need more from our WR1. A weak Miami secondary could be just what Shakir needs to get back on track.

  • Game Prediction: 4 Receptions, 49 Yards, 1 TD.

De’Von Achane is the only bright spot so far on the Dolphins offense as he has 29 total touches (carries and receptions) for 197 yards and 2 TDs. The Bills were able to slow down Breece Hall in week 2, but Achane is among the league’s fastest players and should cause a problem for the Bills’ secondary. Holding him under 100 yards would guarantee a Bills victory.

  • Game Prediction: 12 Carries, 61 Yards, 6 Receptions, 44 Yards, 1 TD.

Tua Tagovailoa is off to one of the worst starts to a season he’s ever had in his career. Tua continues to have a great completion percentage, but the issue has been turnovers this season. In 2 games, he has 3 TDs but also 3 Interceptions. Until Tua can settle in, the Dolphins will continue to lose.

  • Game Prediction: 22/31, 243 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 1 Fumble.

Game Predictions

The Miami Dolphins have allowed the second-most points this season (66), and Buffalo RB James Cook already has 3 TDs on the season. I fully expect the Bills’ offense to dominate the same way it did in week 2 against a weak New York Jets team. I predict Buffalo wins this game easily, 38-23.
