Mike Green Brings Juice to Ravens’ Pass Rush

Mike Green offers a style of finesse to the Baltimore Ravens’ pass rush unit that will have Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh back for another season. However, his speed to power could also make him part of the rotation early on to eventually become the starter, either for 34-year-old KVN or Oweh, if he isn’t re-signed next offseason.

Obviously, the Marshall edge rusher was a steal in the second round with his off-field, but on-field, he will be an instant impact playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. The 21-year-old signed his contract recently and comes in after a 17-sack season for the Thundering Herd as a junior.

The former transfer from Virginia showed out in his second year at Marshall and at the Senior Bowl, where he was so dominant at practice to make his name known as a potential first-rounder off his on-field skills.

Oweh, Van Noy Had the Numbers in 2025

Oweh stayed healthy and had double-digit sacks with 10, as this coming season is a contract year after many Ravens have been paid so far this season. The former first-rounder from Penn State had a bounce-back type of season, but the 26-year-old may be outpriced in Baltimore, considering they still have to extend Kyle Hamilton, Tyler Linderbaum, Isaiah Likely, and even Lamar Jackson.

This is a make-or-break year for him, but either way, Green is likely to play a major role, especially on passing downs. Alongside Aeneas Peebles, their sixth rounder, the edge is a player to watch for the preseason and training camp. I wouldn’t expect the veteran and the experienced starter to play any meaningful snaps before Week 1.

Van Noy was in the top four in sacks last year with 12.5 in a late breakout season, as the veteran had 9 in 2023 but showed in 2024, leading the team. Their team total sacks were 54, ranking them only behind the Denver Broncos with 63.

Mike Green Gives Ravens a Dynamic Sack Artist

Fantasy Coaching ADS

Mike Green was a terror as a productive disruptor at Marshall and would’ve been a clear top-20 selection if those off-field issues weren’t a thing teams needed to be sure of. Whether he is worth a second-round pick, time will tell for the Ravens if the gamble will pay off.

However, for Baltimore, that selection, albeit still risky, fills a need now at edge and in the near future beyond this year. The 6’3″ and 252-pound pass rusher brings the gas with his relentless motor in getting after the quarterback.

That will be his role from the jump: just get after the quarterback.
