MLB DFS Picks Today: Wednesday, April 29 DraftKings Plays & Stacks

Happy Wednesday! Here are the MLB DFS DraftKings Picks for Wednesday’s games. We’ve got two slates with a full list of games so let’s get into it!

LAA @ CWS

Not a lot jumps out at me here. Both these teams can probably get after the other pitcher, but I don’t love either for a full stack. LAA could get after Fedde. He doesn’t strike anyone out, but also hasn’t given up a ton of power. If you need to target him, RHBs are the best side to focus on.

TB @ CLE

Great spot for pitchers here with cold winds blowing in during this game. Both these pitchers give up some lefty power, but the wind here is going to keep me off either lineup. I have more interest in the pitchers. Gavin Williams looks particularly interesting with his high K rates.

SEA @ MIN

Another spot with great (though not as great) pitching weather. I have zero interest in lineups here and like both pitchers. Kirby’s K numbers are way down this year, so I probably have more interest in Taj Bradley and his high K rate against lefties. Seattle rolls out a heavy left-handed lineup here.

NYY @ TEX

This is the first game I’ll have some interest in hitters. Eovaldi has been struggling mightily against LHBs this year. His K rate is way down to that side of the plate and he’s giving up a lot of power with 3.80 HRs/9 from that side. Yankees lineup is filled with lefties, and I particularly like the top of this order with Grisham, Rice, and Bellinger. Rice is set up for another big game.

Elmer Rodriguez is making his first big league start today. He’s a top prospect in the Yankees system who rolled in the minors last year and so far this year. I’d have some interest in him in the pitcher slot if the cost is right. He’s got some real swing-and-miss offspeed.

BOS @ TOR

I’m not really sure what to do with this game. You have 2 pitchers going that have really struggled this year compared to last year, without massive sample sizes yet, so I’m unsure if it’s going to stick. If we think both these guys are washed, you’ll want to target LHBs against Bello, and both sides are playable against Lauer. I’m unsure what I’ll be doing here yet. Varsho would be my favorite Toronto play and Contreras my favorite Boston bat.

MIA @ LAD

Glasnow is in a great spot against a soft-hitting Marlins lineup. There’s no need to overthink him here imo.

On the other side, Sandy continues to struggle against lefties this year. Exactly what you don’t want against this LAD lineup. This Dodgers lineup is loaded with LHBs that can hit, with Ohtani leading the charge here today.

CHC @ SD

This game isn’t included in either slate so I’ll skip. If you’re betting, both pitchers are ass. Every hitter is in play.

HOU @ BAL

I have some interest in Lambert here. He does a good job at keeping the ball on the ground and has a high K rate against LHBs. Plus, the weather should benefit pitchers here.

On the other side, Bassitt has been miserable against lefties. Even with this weather (it’s not terrible), I’d be excited to target lefties against him. The problem is there aren’t many of them in this Houston lineup. Alvarez sets up very nice here.

SF @ PHI

This should be a great pitcher’s matchup. Both these guys have been lights out this year and do a great job at keeping the ball on the ground, which you need to do in this ballpark. Weather is poor for hitting here as well. I’ll have interest in both these pitchers.

COL @ CIN

I think we see some hitting fireworks in this game. Williamson has struggled so far this year against lefties. Small sample size, but if we look at his career, he’s struggled at every level against them so I think it’s sticky. Problem for Colorado is they don’t send out many left-handed bats, so it’ll be tough for me to stack against him here.

Sugano is a gas can imo. He’s struggled with the long ball in the majors and that has continued this year. Pitching at Coors for half your games isn’t easy, but the Great American Smallpark isn’t much more forgiving. All Cincy hitters are in play here, with De La Cruz and Stewart looking great for a dinger or two.

STL @ PIT

I’m focusing lefties against Chandler here. I think the sample size is large enough and he just can’t strike them out this year. STL doesn’t have a great list to chose from but the top two guys are in play.

WSH @ NYM

Great pitching weather here tonight and we have two solid options. Both keep the ball on the ground. I don’t envision any fireworks coming from the offensive sides here. More interest in the pitchers than the bats.

image 17

DET @ ATL

JR Ritchie is a top prospect out of the Braves system and is getting his second start here. He was dominant in the minors and looked like the real deal in his first major league start. Against a Detroit offense that hasn’t been firing on all cylinders yet, I like him here. On the other side, Skubal has been great this year. The one knock on him is giving up some left-handed power. Looking at his numbers though, he just looks unlucky. I’d expect this to regress. Both are strong options here and I think this stays pretty low scoring.

ARI @ MIL

I like targeting hitters against Sproat here with an Arizona stack I think could be heavily overlooked. I don’t have much interest in Milwaukee hitters against Rodriguez. Arizona lefties in particular look strong to me. I’d take a shot at any of them outside of Alek Thomas.

image 19

KC @ OAK

I’m completely out of this game. I don’t think there will be much offense, and I also don’t feel either pitcher has a high K game in them.

Recap

Spots I’m attacking tonight:

Pitchers: Gavin Williams, Drew Rasmussen, Taj Bradley, George Kirby, Tyler Glasnow, Peter Lambert, Logan Webb, Cristopher Sanchez, Cade Cavalli, David Peterson, Tarik Skubal, JR Ritchie. Elmer Rodriguez if the cost is right.

Stacks and hitters:

  • Yankees lefties against Eovaldi: Grisham, Rice, and Bellinger. Rice is set up for another big game.
  • Dodgers LHBs against Sandy Alcantara, with Ohtani leading the charge.
  • Houston lefties against Bassitt. Alvarez sets up very nice.
  • Reds lineup against Sugano. De La Cruz and Stewart looking great for a dinger or two.
  • STL lefties against Chandler.
  • Arizona lefties against Sproat (outside of Alek Thomas).
  • Varsho is my favorite Toronto play. Contreras my favorite Boston bat.

Good luck tonight.
