Welcome to NFL Week 8 Must Sit. This week we are tackling the impending ‘byemageddon’ that has been bestowed upon us. It is difficult to find a sturdy sit with so many good players on bye. Buckle up, because there may be some fifty-fifty names you would like to see before Sunday.
Rhamondre Stevenson
Rhamondre Stevenson has been the New England Patriots‘ lead back all season. He has famously had a case of the fumbles for the majority of the year. It has not been promising for TreVeyon Henderson either, as Stevenson continues to be the lead back. Stevenson has been a boom or bust start, having three games over 10 points, but 4 under 5 total fantasy points, so it will be hit or miss. I find it to be an easy miss this week as he goes against one of the league’s best defenses, and the QB for the Patriots, Drake Maye, is taking off.
Confidence: 6/10
Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Bill) has not taken off to the point where he should be. Austin Ekeler went down to a season-ending injury in week 2, and Bill’s snap share has only increased to a maximum of 66 percent. The rest of the week is under 50%. The Washington Commanders are facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs this week. Bill will not have the opportunity that you may hope for, as I anticipate them to be down big to that offense and the Marcus Mariota-led Commanders. Sit Bill if you can in this ‘byemageddon’.
Confidence: 7/10
Jordan Love
Jordan Love is one of the most frustrating quarterbacks in the NFL, let alone in fantasy football. Love has not performed to the level we all know he is capable of. His biggest problem is consistency. He is consistently ranked inside the top 12 of quarterbacks, but has only finished as one, once against the Cowboys, and it took him 5 quarters to get there. Bench Jordan Love in primetime against his predecessor, Aaron Rodgers. This matchup will not be favorable for Lov, and you cannot trust him under any circumstances to start unless he strings together a few good weeks.
Confidence: 10/10
Khalil Shakir
Khalil Shakir is ranked as a WR 3 most weeks, and that continues here in week 8. The Bills play against the Carolina Panthers coming out of the bye, which is interesting. The Panthers have put up points for a lot of the year. I am interested to see what they can do against the up and down Bills. Coming out of the bye, I am interested to see if the Bills have schemed up Keon Coleman to be one of those players who is a post-bye breakout. Shakir is not a total sit, especially in a six-team bye week, but I would strongly consider it as the Bills look out of whack as of late.
Confidence: 3/10
DJ Moore
DJ Moore is one of those players who has been schemed out of an offense at an elite level. He was drafted in the fourth or fifth round in most drafts. His return on investment has been terrible. Rome Odunze has clearly taken that step over him to become the WR1 in Chicago. What turns out to be sad is that guys like Luther Burden are getting more looks in some games than DJ Moore. Moore still might be more talented than Odunze, but the opportunity is not there.
This does not even mention that the Bears are in a one-sided playoff matchup with the Baltimore Ravens this week. The Ravens (1-5) are looking to save their season as the uber-talented team cannot give an inch this week. This is the proverbial “kitchen sink” game, and the Ravens’ secondary is finally back and healthy after a tumultuous start to the year.
