Patriots Sign UFL Offensive Lineman Yasir Durant

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots have officially announced the signing of offensive lineman Yasir Durant, bolstering their offensive line with a player who brings both NFL experience and recent success from the United Football League (UFL).

Durant, 27, arrives in New England after a stellar run with the DC Defenders in the UFL. During the 2025 season, Durant started all nine regular-season games at left tackle, helping anchor a line that propelled the Defenders to a 6–4 record and ultimately a UFL Championship. Durant was named to the 2025 All-UFL Team and earned an impressive 86.7 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, highlighting his reliability in protecting the quarterback’s blind side. Over his two UFL seasons, Durant started 19 games and played every position on the offensive line except center.

Before his UFL resurgence, Durant played college football at Missouri, where he started 33 games at left tackle and appeared in 36 contests overall. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 and made an immediate impact, appearing in 11 games and making one start as a rookie. Durant was traded to the Patriots ahead of the 2021 season, where he played in seven games and made one start, logging 95 offensive snaps and recovering one fumble. He later spent time with the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos, further adding to his professional experience.

Throughout his NFL career, Durant has appeared in 20 games with two starts, playing a total of 188 offensive snaps. His ability to contribute at both tackle and guard makes him a valuable asset for the Patriots as they look to add depth and competition to their offensive front following the recent retirement of veteran lineman Wes Schweitzer.

Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 330 pounds, Durant brings both size and athleticism to the Patriots’ offensive line group. He is expected to compete for a roster spot during training camp, which begins July 23 at Gillette Stadium.

With the addition of Yasir Durant, the Patriots continue to reinforce their offensive line, aiming to provide strong protection for their quarterbacks and stability in the trenches heading into the 2025 season.
