Preseason Top 12 WRs for Fantasy Football | Part One

Chase Triple Crown stats graphic

Now it’s time to get into my Top 12 WRs for the 2025 fantasy football season and the top of the list are easy choices.

Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase and Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson have been the talk as the preseason No. 1 WR last three seasons. And neither one of them have disappointed as both have rattled three 1,000-yard seasons. Now it’s time for the 2025 fantasy football season debate.

No. 1 Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati

Chase became the fifth wide receiver in NFL history to win the Triple Crown (catches, yardage and TDs). He joined the likes of Cooper Kupp (2021), Steve Smith Sr. (2005), Sterling Sharpe (1992) and Jerry Rice (1990).

And I don’t expect him to slow down in 2025. The Bengals re-signed his WR mate Tee Higgins to keep teams from double teaming Chase. QB Joe Burrow is coming off of a career year and Cincinnati is expected to be in the bottom third of the league in defense. Plus, the Bengals need offense to keep up with AFC North rival Baltimore.

With a healthy season, Chase could make another run at a Triple Crown title.

No. 2: Justin Jefferson, Minnesota

Jefferson just continues to be a dominant force at WR, no matter who is his QB. The Vikings let Kirk Cousins go in free agency before the 2024 season and were expected to start rookie J.J. McCarthy at QB. McCarthy torn his right knee meniscus in Minnesota’s first preseason game last year, and journeyman QB Sam Darnold stepped in and had a career year.

And Jefferson was the catalyst to Darnold’s season. Jefferson finished with 103 catches on 154 targets for 1,533 yards receiving and 10 TDs. Jefferson proved last year that a QB change would not affect his game. McCarthy threw for 22 TDs in each of his last two seasons at Michigan in the Wolverines’ run-first offense.

No. 3: Drake London, Atlanta

Anyone who have read my recent stories have an idea I’m very high on the Atlanta offense next season. They have young QB Michael Penix Jr., who can sling it and improved in each of his three starts, one of the league’s elite RB in Bijan Robinson and then there’s London.

London has seen triple-digit targets during his first three years in the league, but he put it all together last year in his third. He finished with 100 catches on 158 targets with 1,271 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns. But it was his final three weeks of the season that has me excited for the 2025 fantasy football season

In Penix Jr.’s three starts, London was targeted 39 times, finishing with 22 receptions. This also included his biggest yardage game of the season in the finale with 187 yards. But the stat that really stands out for London is his red-zone targets. He led the league among WRs with a 65.7 target share in the red zone.

As Penix Jr. becomes more comfortable and accurate vs. NFL defenses, London could be in store for a big 2025 season.

No. 4: CeeDee Lamb, Dallas

Lamb can easily jump the Top 3 on my list if Dak Prescott can stay healthy a whole season.

With Prescott under center for the Cowboys in 2023, Lamb dominated the league with 135 catches, 1,749 yards and 12 TDs to finish was the No. 1 overall fantasy WR. In 2025, Prescott missed 9 games and Lamb slumped to No. 8 overall WR in fantasy. However, Lamb is a big part of the Dallas offense as he saw 152 targets in 2024.

No. 5: Brian Thomas, Jacksonville

It was a big rookie season for Thomas Jr. with only mediocre play at QB for the Jaguars. Thomas Jr. finished with 87 receptions, 1,282 yards and 10 TDs with the likes of Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones throwing him the ball in 2024.

But Thomas Jr. was model of consistency after the Jaguars’ bye week last year. In his final six games, he saw 70 targets and averaged 25.6 fantasy points a game.

No. 6: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit

St. Brown has been the one consistent that makes the Lions offense go. He has averaged 107.5 receptions in his four seasons in the league. And when QB Jared Goff needs a big play or first down, St. Brown is the guy he looks for in those situations and made him one of the Top 12 WRs in fantasy football.

St. Brown has averaged 150 targets his last three seasons, but with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson leaving to take the heading coach job with NFL North rival Chicago, will St. Brown’s number continued to called in key situations?
