My love-hate relationship with my Sleepers & Duds story continues.
And when it comes to Week 14 and the final week of the majority of leagues, I need to go perfect to help the few still battling for a playoff spots.
Well, let’s get into this week’s plays!
QB Sleepers
Tyrod Taylor, NY Jets
Taylor was a serviceable starter last week if you didn’t have any of the Thanksgiving Day top QBs.
He was a Top 5 finishers among the Sunday quarterbacks as he threw a touchdown and rushed for the game-tying touchdown to force OT, where the Jets won.
This week he faces a Miami defense that has allowed the third most rushing yards to QBs this season at 296 yards. Taylor had 44 rushing yards last week to go along with 172 passing yards.
The Dolphins give up 19.0 fantasy points a game to the QB position this season.
QB Duds
Caleb Williams, Chicago
Williams has been a borderline starter in bigger fantasy leagues this season and the matchup against Green Bay will be a tough one.
- Williams and the Bears will be without his top WR Rome Odunze (foot stress fracture).
- The weather is going to be brutal (17 degrees with wind chills expected to be in the single digits)
- The Packers have slowed down QB fantasy scoring this season at 14.0 points a game.
- And the Packers pass rush (10 sacks in their last three games).
RB Sleepers
Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas
I know that goes against my stat base way of thinking. The Broncos have been excellent against RBs this season, giving up 15.1 fantasy points.
But Jeanty has decent game in the two teams’ earlier matchup this season.
He finished with 60 rushing yards and a TD and added 3 catches for 3 yards in the Raiders‘ 10-7 loss.
RB Duds
Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis
I know it appears I’m picking on Taylor as my Dud every week, but I personally love him and wished I would had him on a couple of my rosters this season.
It’s just the matchups keep proving to be a tough go for the Colts‘ and NFL’s leading rusher.
This week he faces a Jacksonville defense that is the best in the league at stopping the run. The Jaguars only give up 82.4 rushing yards a game.
Plus, Daniel Jones has become less of a threat to run the ball, allowing defenses to focus on Taylor.
WR Sleepers
Pat Bryant, Denver
New Orleans’ Devaughn Vele is getting a lot of hype this week, and I’ll give you Bryant as another player who could have a break out week.
Bryant surpassed Troy Franklin as the Broncos’ No. 2 WR by 12 snaps last week and he has averaged 6.5 targets in his last two games.
Now he faces a Las Vegas defense that allows 23.2 fantasy points to WR this season.
WR Duds
Ladd McConkey, LA Chargers
This is more than quarterback Justin Herbert possibly missing this game. Herbert had surgery to repair a fracture in his left hand earlier this week before practicing in a limited capacity on Friday.
But it’s the whole offense in general.
The Chargers have been held to just 263.3 yards a game in their last three games with a healthy Herbert. It’s the season-ending injuries to their offensive tackles that have slowed the offense.
Plus, Quentin Johnston, Keenan Allen and Oronde Gadsden II has cut into McConkey’s production this season.
TE Sleepers
Mason Taylor, NY Jets
Taylor’s early season hype never really grew into the regular season, but he has a nice matchup against the Dolphins.
Miami gives up the third most fantasy points to TE this season at 10.2 points.
And Taylor had a serviceable 11.5 points in the Jets’ first matchup against Miami.
TE Duds
Pittsburgh TEs
I’m going to pick on this group again as Baltimore has played well against TEs this season.
The Ravens have given up 6.5 fantasy points to the position this season, and that’s not enough points to start one of Pittsburgh‘s Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith or Darnell Washington.
