Sleepers & Duds: New faces to step up for Week 7

Sleepers & Duds Week 7

It is so hit and miss with my Sleepers & Duds stories, but that’s the fun part trying sort through the stats and choosing the right players.

The best thing about going through the stats, I helps me select my starters for my leagues or find a players I can store on my bench for later use.

Let’s keep it short and sweet this week for the introduction and get into Week 7’s Sleepers & Duds!

QB Sleepers

Spencer Rattler, New Orleans

Rattler gets the benefit of facing one of the bottom 10 defense against QB fantasy points scored this season.

Chicago has allowed QBs to score 19.9 fantasy points a game this season and is in the Top 5 for TD passes allowed with 13.

Rattler is not going to wow you with a 30-point game, but he’s an accurate passer for the Saints who doesn’t turn the ball over playing against a defense giving up 213.3 passing yards a game.

QB Duds

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia

Hurts’ road-home starts for the Eagles have been pretty drastic this season as the reigning Super Bowl MVP has been a downer on the road.

Hurts has averaged only 17.5 fantasy points on the road this season, while averaging 24.6 points in home games.

Now he faces a Minnesota defense that has only allowed 5 TD passes and 1 rushing TD by quarterbacks this season. The Vikings only give up 12.9 fantasy points against QB in 2025.

RB Sleepers

RJ Harvey, Denver

The Broncos were a 7-point home favorite in their last home game when they faced Cincinnati. Denver cruised to a 28-3 victory.

During that victory, Harvey had his most touches of the season and scored 19.8 fantasy points on 58 yards rushing and added 4 catches for 40 yards and a TD.

Now the Broncos are home as a 7-point favorite against the New York Giants. I can foresee Harvey getting another solid workload in this matchup. The Giants give up 17.6 fantasy points a game to RBs.

RB Duds

De’Von Achane, Miami

I know Achane may get a bunch of check down passes in this game as Cleveland features a strong pass rush, but he’s a better back at home this season than on the road.

Achane has averaged 24.8 fantasy points a game at Hard Rock Stadium, while on the road, he’s averaged 16.4 fantasy points a game on the road.

But the Browns have shut down RBs in fantasy this season. Cleveland is only allowing 11.7 fantasy points a game vs. RBs.

WR Sleepers

Luke McCaffrey, Washington

Terry McLaurin has already been ruled out for the Commanders’ big NFC East Division matchup at Dallas.

And Deebo Samuel Sr. may missed the game was well as he continues to deal with a heel injury.

McCaffrey is the next man up if Samuel were the miss the game. And McCaffrey has already found a knack of scoring a TD or making the big play in his limited usage so far in 2025.

He has scored a TD in three of the last four games and had a big 50-yard catch in the win against the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s primed for a bigger role and fantasy output.

Dallas has been haunted by WRs this season to the tune of 30.2 fantasy points a game and given up a league-high 12 TD receptions.

WR Duds

Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina

McMillan finally found the end zone (twice) last week as the rookie WR has been Bryce Young go-to man in the passing game. He had only lacked the TDs.

However, he has a matchup against Sauce Gardner and the Jets secondary that is a Top 15 unit of allowing fantasy points to WRs.

New York only allows 19.7 fantasy points a game this season vs. WRs and their focus will be McMillan. Back-up TE Tommy Tremble and journeyman Hunter Renfrow are second and third in receptions with 16 and 15 catches, respectively.

TE Sleepers

Mason Taylor, New York Jets

While the rookie McMillan may find it tough to score fantasy points, another rookie could have a field day.

The Jets’ rookie TE Mason Taylor may be in line to have his best game of the season as Garrett Wilson is listed as doubtful with a knee injury.

And the Panthers are one of the worst teams vs. TEs this season. Carolina has given 11.5 fantasy points a game (2nd worse), 444 receiving yards (2nd worse) and 4 TDs (tied for 3rd worse) this season to TEs.

TE Duds

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota

I’m starting think I’m a complete jinx to the player I name as my TE Duds of the week as Brock Bowers and Dalton Kincaid were my last two picks and neither one suited up for their game.

But with Hockenson, he gets hit with a double dose of the offense running through wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and the Eagles having been solid against TEs in fantasy this season.

The Eagles are only giving up 3.8 fantasy points a game and tight ends have only caught 57 percent of their targets vs. the Philly defense in six games.
