It’s here – the final countdown for The Masters and hopefully, a nice payday from my Betting Guide.
I’ve hit two winners so far this season (Chris Gotterup – WM Phoenix Open, and Matt Fitzpatrick, Valspar Championship), and this week, I believe I can return to my winning ways with another outright winner.
Rory McIlroy is the returning the champion after defeating Justin Rose in the playoff to win the Green Jacket and complete the career grand slam last year.
This week’s field is stronger than last season as my spreadsheet is showing a group of 15 golfers who could contend this week.
Let’s not waste any time and get to my Masters plays!
Betting Guide: Bets to Win
Rory McIlroy (+1175 on DraftKings)
I know repeating at The Masters is a tall feat. Tiger Woods was the last to do in 2001-02, and Jordan Spieth came close in 2016.
But I just can’t ignore my spreadsheet. Since this is the only major that is played on the same course every year, predicting the winner has been its specialty the last three years.
The thing that has me excited to play Rory as the repeat champion is my spreadsheet has better numbers this year for him than last year.
Let’s go for 4 in a row!
Min Woo Lee (+3400 on DraftKings)
Min Woo has been trending in the right direction for a victory very soon.
He has four Top 15 finishes in the last five tournaments he’s played, and his strong all-round stat profile should put him in the hunt for his first Green Jacket.
He has ranks in the Top 35 in seven of the 11 stat categories I used this week, led by his outstanding off the tee play – 7th shot gained: Off the tee, 13th in distance and 31st in accuracy off the tee.
Then you add his strong par-5 scoring (2nd) and SG: Around the green (27th) and SG: Putting (28th) and you have a strong contender.
Jake Knapp (+6500 on DraftKings)
What makes Knapp especially interesting is how his skill set aligns with winning, not just finishing. He’s not a grinder type – he’s a run-hot scorer who can stack birdies quickly, which is exactly what you want in an outright.
Plus, his putting is super elite (2nd, SG: Putting) to handle the tricky Augusta National greens. Then add his distances off the tee, strong par-5 scoring and the ability to scramble could make him a sneaky winner this week.
Top 20 with ties
Sam Stevens (+285 on DraftKings): Stevens has the sneaky statistical profile to be a great play in DFS as well, but if he has a good putting week, a Top 20 finish should be an easy accomplishment.
Nick Taylor (+290 on DraftKings): Taylor may not be the longest hitter to contend this week, but his all-around scrambling and around the green play makes him a nice play for a Top 20 finish.
One and Done
Jon Rahm: I really wanted to use Scottie Scheffler about a month ago in this spot, but with Scottie’s game just a bit off, Rahm becomes a nice play with his recent form and this being only 1 of 4 chances to use him.
