The first week of the NFL preseason is here and it’s time to talk about some early stashes and a Week 1 streaming defense for the 2025 fantasy football season.
This is year is going to be a big year here at Blitz Sports Media and I’m giving you a little taste what I will be bringing for fantasy managers to win their leagues.
We have a busy weekly schedule with stories and videos, and I will be the person to check with each week for your Waiver Wire sweethearts with my Stash Cans and your Streaming DSTs for each week of the fantasy football season.
So let’s get into it and bring you some Stash Can players to add to your deep league rosters or to have on your radar when the regular season begins.
Kyle Monangai (RB) Chicago
Monangai doesn’t have prototypical NFL running back size, measuring just 5-foot-8 and 207 pounds, and he doesn’t have the draft pedigree after going in the 7th round this spring. But he can more than handle a workload in the NFL.
He rushed for more than 1,200 yards in each of the last two seasons at Rutgers. He was named to the first-team All-Big Ten Conference team during his senior year after rushing for 1,279 yards, the second most in the conference in 2024. Monangai also set a Rutgers record for the most touches without a fumble on 669 rushing attempts and 38 receptions.
And Bears’ coaching staff has currently taken notice of him as well. He is currently running with the second unit ahead of Roschon Johnson. Plus, Johnson currently has a foot injury, so Monangai could see extensive action in Sunday’s preseason game against Miami.
Woody Marks (RB) Houston
Marks, 5-10, 207 pounds, muttered in mediocracy running the ball during his fourth years at Mississippi State as his best season was his junior year with 582 yards. He was known more for his receiving prowess, compiling 214 receptions with the Bulldogs.
But as a fifth-year senior at USC, he finished with his first 1,000-yard rushing season in college and added 47 receptions in the process. And the Texans backfield is a mess – Joe Mixon has a foot injury, Nick Chubb does not look like his former self and Dameon Pierce has yet to prove himself in NFL.
Woods is currently listed as the team’s fourth-string RB, even behind Dare Ogunbowale. But he may get a chance to move up quickly on the depth chart with an impressive preseason on Saturday against Minnesota.
Preseason DST Streamer
Denver Broncos
I know a lot of fellow experts believe picking a DST is an afterthought or they are all the same.
I say they are very wrong!
But the key in picking the right DST to start on your team is the matchup. And the Broncos have a great start to their season for their defense. Denver open their 2025 season with a home matchup against Tennessee and No. 1 pick, quarterback Cam Ward.
And history is against Ward. Rookie QBs are 2-10-1 in their first starts in the last six years and he has to go on the road and face a Broncos defense that recorded 63 sacks last season. Plus, the Broncos’ second game is road matchup against Indianapolis. A good start is in the cards for the new “Orange Crush” defense.
