There are a few times in life when sports make the world stand still. This is one of those moments. Years from now, you will remember where you were on August 28, 2025.
Blockbuster Trade
The Dallas Cowboys have traded three-time All-Pro Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for DT Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks.
Parsons will sign a four-year $188 million deal with a whopping $136 million guaranteed. Parsons is set to make $47 million per year, which will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.
Generational Talent
Micah Parsons’ 52.5 sacks rank 5th in the NFL since entering the league in 2021. Parsons is a game-wrecker. He is one of those unique defensive playmakers who keep offensive coordinators awake at night.

“I go against this guy in practice every day,” former Cowboys All-Pro guard Zack Martin said in 2023. “Micah Parsons to me is as gifted a player as there is in the NFL.”
“Any given moment, he can tear a game apart,” RB Saquon Barkley said. “You gotta know exactly where he is on the field.”
Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys have been at odds the entire offseason. Parsons requested a trade on August 1st. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called the trade request “just a part of negotiation” and told Cowboys fans, “Don’t lose any sleep over it.”
NFL Network reporter Jane Slater told the NFL Insiders Thursday afternoon that things were “moving differently” within the last 48-72 hours.
“The final straw, as small as it was, it was a big deal within the building when you saw Micah Parsons laying on the training table during that preseason game,” Slater said.
“This is a guy who had gone to Jerry Jones, said he wants to be a leader, he wants to do more for this team. I think that, and in combination with it being leaked that there was a grievance being filed over whether he was a defensive end or a linebacker, and going to get a second opinion on his back. That forced the organization to essentially go to Jerry (Jones) and seriously consider getting something for this generational type player.”
Following the trade, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ Executive Vice President of Player Personnel, Stephen Jones, addressed the media from the Ford Center Thursday night.
“We think it was in the best interest of our organization. We gained a Pro Bowl player in an area that we had concerns in.”Jerry Jones said. “I think a lot of Micah. I wish him so much success.”
The Green Bay Packers will travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in 31 days.
As Hall of Fame WR Terrell Owens once said, “Get your popcorn ready.”
