NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football Must-Sit Players

In this week’s article, we are going to talk about fantasy football NFL Week 2 Must-Sit Players.

NFL Week 2 Must Sit Players

Chris Olave

Chris Olave is a player that I would love to start every week. He is so talented, and we saw that in 2023. The issue is that in 2024, he had several concussions and is one hit away from having to make a difficult decision. This year, he has Spencer Rattler throwing him the ball.

Last week, he had 7 receptions on 13 targets. I am worried about the matchup this week against the San Francisco 49ers. Spencer Rattler threw the ball over 40 times last week against the Arizona Cardinals. That is unsustainable for a player of his caliber. Some of the targets that Olave got from Rattler could put him in that blue tent, once again. The New Orleans Saints have already shown that they will put him in the tent quickly to be extra cautious.

The 49ers made Sam Darnold look like rookie Sam Darnold after a phenomenal season last year with the Minnesota Vikings. He had under 175 passing yards and could only get the ball to Jaxson Smith-Njigba (JSN). Rattler is nowhere near Darnold’s level. For that, he must sit until I see him get another heavy target load.

Confidence: 7/10

Cooper Kupp

Cooper Kupp’s prime is unfortunately over. He once saw the field as an opportunity, it seemed like anytime Matthew Stafford or Jared Goff threw the ball, but he only managed 2 receptions for 15 yards on 3 targets against the 49ers last week in his Seahawks Debut. The Seahawks are headed to play Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend in what would have been a preseason defensive showdown, but the Steelers’ offense came with a vengeance. While I still expect it to be lower scoring than last week’s Jets’, Steelers’ matchup, there could be some points on the board.

I need to see Kupp and Sam Darnold to have some type of connection to feel confident in starting him. Kupp not getting targeted often as the wide receiver two in Seattle is extremely concerning. I thought he may have a different role than the invisible one he had for the last 10 games of his career in Los Angeles. He and JSN might be redundant, like we all thought in the offseason, and JSN is clearly the better and younger player. Sit Kupp this week at all costs. It does not look promising for him.

Confidence: 10/10

Travis Hunter

The sit for Travis Hunter back-to-back weeks for me is because there is still so much unknown. I am excited to see what he can bring to the table. He was targeted 8 times, for 6 receptions and 33 yards last week. Hunter saw way more volume than I originally thought, but the reason for this is because the Jaguars came out and said we will see more of him on defense this week against the Bengals

The way it is looking for me right now is that the Jaguars are playing Hunter more on certain sides of the field depending on the matchup, and they can use all the help they could get against Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and the Bengals they can get. I want to see 1-2 more weeks of Hunter before I can confidently start, because I think we are going to see a pattern in his usage based on what the Jaguars need.

Confidence: 6/10

Jaylen Waddle

Jaylen Waddle is extremely disappointing, along with the rest of the Miami Dolphins. This team has the chance to really bust fantasy lineups in 2025. Honestly, unless we see something drastically different from them. I do not think that Jaylen Waddle is startable until he potentially gets traded or next season. He is becoming very unusable for a guy who was so excited just two years ago.

Waddle has been just dreadful since the start of the 2024 season, and I would love to have him back, but Tua Tagovailoa cannot even get the ball to Tyreek Hill, let alone Waddle. Put Waddle in detention, or trade him to get any value left out of him. I love the players, hate the results.

Confidence: (A sad) 8/10

Zach Charbonnet

While Zach Charbonnet weirdly out-snapped Kenneth Walker III in Week One against the 49ers, I cannot trust the usage quite yet on the combo of the two. I think there is a real possibility that Walker III may have suffered an injury out of camp that wasn’t discussed or hadn’t been fully ramped up yet. Charbonnet has been more than startable in Walker III’s absence throughout the last two years, so it seems plausible.

Charbonnet should not be treated like a starter this week, unless you are in a deep league. He is a solid second FLEX, but until we have more data, I am sitting him in Week Two.

Confidence: 7/10
