Sometimes even playing the right players does not bring a successful week. But that’s the beauty of weekly DFS in fantasy football.
This week’s The DFS Must Starts have some upside to bring home some green in your DraftKings’ lineups.
Let’s not waste any time and get into this week’s top players!
QB DFS Must Start
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City ($6,000)
Mahomes is having a sub-par start to the season as the Chiefs stumbled out of the gate with a 1-2 record.
However, Mahomes has been consistent despite not putting up big passing stats. His legs has provided a spark needed to have a big week in DFS. He has rushed for 125 yards and averaging 6.3 yards a carry.
Now he faces a Baltimore defense is that giving up 22 fantasy points a game, according to our Blitz Sports Media fantasy points allowed by position.
The Ravens have improved this pass defense the last two weeks, only giving up 200.5 passing yards after giving up 394 to Josh Allen and Buffalo in Week 1.
And this game is at Arrowhead Stadium, and Baltimore struggled more with their pass defense on the road in 2024, giving 6.8 yards per attempt.
RB DFS Must Start
James Cook III, Buffalo ($7,100)
Cook III is quietly making an early season case as the league’s offensive player of the year.
He has rushed for 284 yards, including two 100-yard games, and four touchdowns. He’s also added 9 catches on 9 targets 71 yards. Along the way, he’s averaged 24.8 DK through the first three games for the Bills.
Now the Bills play host to 0-3 New Orleans. The Saints allow 25.1 DK fantasy points to RBs this season (7th worse), but it isn’t the yardage pumping up those points. New Orleans has given four touchdowns to its opponent.
WR DFS Must Start
Drake London, Atlanta ($5,700)
London and the Atlanta passing game has struggled the last two games.
However, London continues to be Michael Penix Jr.’s top target as London has received a 25.7 percent target share.
London only has 16 catches for 153 yards and no touchdowns. But he has averaged 9 targets a game and leads the team with 233 air yards, pointing to a breakout game coming soon.
The Washington defense may allow that to happen – the Commanders give up 37.5 DK points and 14.6 yards a reception to WRs this season.
TE DFS Must Start
Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($4,800)
If I’m going to go with Mahomes as my starting QB, I need to pair him up with one of his receivers, and I’m going with Kelce.
Xavier Worthy should be back after Kelce separated his shoulder in the first game of the season, but it’s Kelce who could have a big game.
In the biggest matchup of the Main Slate, Baltimore comes to Arrowhead giving up the second most receiving yards vs. TEs this season. The Ravens have gave up 218 receiving yards to tight ends this season and give up 15.9 DK points to TEs.
