Welcome to NFL Week 7 Must Sit Players. In this article, we will discuss the different players who face tough matchups or difficult decisions this week. If you do have them and can help it, keep them on the bench this week.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix has had two top 12 finishes this season and one below QB12. This happened in Week 5 against the horrendous defense that is the Cincinnati Bengals. Nix has not had a lack of opportunity, airing it out 30+ times in 5 of 6 starts this season. Overall, it has been a disappointing start to Nix’s sophomore season after we thought his status would rise heading into year 2.
The Denver Broncos play against the New York Giants this week in Denver. I worry about the time he will have in the pocket against this Giants’ pass rush. If he has enough time within the pocket, then he will be sure to succeed, as the Giants’ secondary is not a great unit. But will he get that time? It is tough to say, as PFF ranks their O-line as second overall heading into week 7. It is a gamble, but take a look at some of the other options, like Sam Darnold, if he is on the waiver wire.
Wan’Dale Robinson
Our next player will also be playing in this game, but for the New York Giants. If Malik Nabers wavered until playing this season, I would have loved this spot for Wan’Dale Robinson. Unfortunately for him, Nabers is out, and he will be shadowed by All-Pro Patrick Surtain II. This is a horrendous matchup for Robinson. He may be the WR1 in this offense, but his talent level is not good enough to go 1 on 1 against the best corner in the NFL.
Robinson’s bread and butter is eclipsing most players in target share, while QB Jaxson Dart may give them those targets early, he may be hard-pressed to go back if he makes the slightest mistake against Surtain II. I cannot expect a rookie QB to be without a mistake in his 4th career start, so for that reason, sit him in Week 7 if you can.
Cooper Kupp
Man, does this stink to watch the ghost of Cooper Kupp on a division rival as he rides out the last of his career, but that is the reality we live in. Cooper Kupp caught a touchdown last week, his first of the season, but do not be fooled. Kupp only had 3 targets and caught 2 passes for 40 yards. Kupp has not had a game of over 100 yards this year. He is the decoy for third-year breakout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. JSN has been an all-world and a top 2 wide receiver in the NFL this year so far. I would expect the same this week against a middle-of-the-pack Houston Texans secondary. Sit Kupp in week 7.
Tony Pollard
Tony Pollard is one step away from getting benched or traded. The Tennessee Titans fired their head coach, Brian Callahan, this past week. So things are not looking up for Tennessee. Pollard saw his snap share decline to under 50% this past week, and there is no hope for the future. Tyjae Spears has come back and taken a little from his workload. We will see if that continues, but the reality for Pollard is that he has not seen a 100-yard game this season and has little touchdown equity. Rookie Cam Ward has struggled as much as a rookie can with the lack of leadership and guidance the franchise has given him. Sit Pollard this week.
Kenneth Walker III
Kenneth Walker III has been one of the biggest disappointments of the fantasy season so far. He has virtually split time with backup Zach Charbonnet and been extremely inefficient. Last season, he showed that there was the ability to contribute in the passing game, but that has faltered substantially. He had three receptions in the season opener and only one in each game since. He has also gone over 10 fantasy points in half his games, which is dissimilar to the Kenneth Walker III that we are accustomed to. He is a difficult sit, but if you have the chance and much better options, give it a shot.
