Waiver Wire Stashes: Demercado back in good graces for Week 11

Waiver Wire Stashes Week 11

As we head into Week 11 of the NFL season, it keeps surprising me that I can continue to find players for Waiver Wire Stashes.

Either it’s a rookie finally stepping up or a fill-in who showed his coaches that they can handle a more prominent role for their teams’ offenses.

And I keep these intros short and sweet – let’s get into this week’s Stash Can players!

Waiver Wire Stashes

Emari Demercado, Arizona (37 percent Yahoo!, 19 percent ESPN, 67 percent Sleeper)

If Demercado hadn’t dropped the ball before crossing the goal line during the Cardinals’ Week 5 home loss to the then winless Tennessee Titans, he would probably be the No. 1 RB for Arizona.

He was limited to 1 carry during Week 6 before running for 143 yards during the last two weeks. He added 3 catches for 40 yards in Sunday’s loss at Seattle.

After his semi-benching in Week 4, Demercado has played at least 40 percent of the snaps in each game.

Jayden Higgins, Houston (14 percent Yahoo!, 17 percent ESPN, 16 percent Sleeper)

Higgins may be emerging as the Texans No. 2 wide receiver as he surpassed Xavier Hutchinson in snaps during the Houston’s come-from-behind win against Jacksonville.

Higgins played 57 percent of the snaps compared to Hutchinson’s 53, and Higgins scored his second touchdown in the last three weeks.

Plus, Higgins’ statistics are almost even par with Hutchinson’s stats despite playing 69 less snaps.

Higgins has 19 catches on 29 targets for 209 yards and three TDs.

Jalen Nailor, Minnesota (1 percent Yahoo!, 1 percent ESPN, 39 percent Sleeper)

Nailor is finally putting up stats to go with his playing time. He finished with 5 catches and a team-high 124 yards and a touchdown during the home loss to Baltimore.

Nailor had played at least 53 percent of the snaps in each game this season, and Sunday was his best performance of the season.

Now he has a chance to continue to excel – the Vikings play 5 teams in their last 7 fantasy season games against defenses which give up the most wide receiver fantasy points.

Minnesota faces Chicago (3rd), Washington (2nd), Dallas (1st), New York Giants (7th) and Detroit (6th) during its final seven games.

Tyler Shough, New Orleans (3 percent Yahoo!, 1 percent ESPN, 71 percent Sleeper)

Shough continues to improve since coming in the Week 8 home loss to Tampa Bay.

He tossed for 128 yards in that first game action, and had 176 passing yards in his first start.

And he was impressive in his first career NFL win at Carolina. He finished with 282 passing yards (10.4 yards per attempt) with two touchdowns. Plus, he’s gradually improved his completion percentage as he 19 of 27 for 70 percent against the Panthers.

Now the Saints get a week off to implement more of their offense around their rookie second-round pick. He may not be a fantasy starter for the rest of the season, unless injuries come into play, but he’s a nice stash if you are in a dynasty league.

Hey, my name is Danny Carpenter and I’m the old man of our group at Blitz Sports Media. I’ve been playing fantasy football since 1993 and seen and played a little of everything in our great game of fantasy football. I’m a true fan of the PPR format and been known to do a spreadsheet or two for NFL DFS. When not consumed by fantasy sports, I enjoy taking vacation with my family, especially to Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Mackinaw Island and Disney World and I love to dabble into sports card trading.
