Travelers Championship Betting Guide: Bets to Win and Top 20 finishers

That was a disappointing U.S. Open for my Betting Guide plays last week.

And Si Woo Kim missing the cut put a dent into my DFS plays as well. It’s always so hard to predict the results at U.S. Opens. Too unpredictable betting wise and in DFS play.

But now we can focus on this week’s Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands. This is the last signature event of the year and this is a no-cut event. All 72 golfers will get the pleasure of playing four rounds this week.

Keegan Bradley is the defending champion as he held off Tommy Fleetwood last year, and it was Bradley’s second win at the Travelers in three years.

This course tends to be sticky with its player history. Bradley, as an example, has six Top 25 finishes in his last 10 events at TPC River Highlands.

Enough talk, let’s get into this week’s Betting Guide plays! All odds are from DraftKings.

Betting Guide: Bets to Win

Travelers Championship Betting Guide Top Plays
Collin Morikawa (+3100)

Morikawa is one the top course fits this week, despite his inconsistent putter.

His elite approach game and accuracy gives him a leg up on the field as he ranks No. 2 in approach heading into the week and 10 in accuracy on the tee.

But it may come down to how close he can get the ball to the pins as his putting is only ranked 88th in putting on the PGA Tour this season.

Russell Henley (+3400)

Henley is one of those golfers who have had success at TPC River Highlands.

He has 5 Top 20 finishes in 8 starts in the last 10 years, and his stat profile this season says he should have another successful week.

Henley doesn’t have the stats that will wow off the page like a Scottie Scheffler, but what he is good at is a perfect fit at the Travelers – accurate off tee, steady iron play from 125-175 yards and a streaky putter. He is in the Top 20 for this field in all three of those categories I used for my DFS spreadsheet this week.

Jacob Bridgeman (+7400)

I have a feeling this is a week Bridgeman comes back to the forefront vs. the PGA Tour’s elite.

He took down a strong field earlier this season with his win at the Genesis Invitational and his game seems to rounding back into form.

And it all starts with his putting. He enters the week No. 2 in shots gained: Putting, but it is his course fit that could prove to be a difference maker.

He has a course fit number of 102 on my DFS spreadsheet, and it equals the same number as Scheffler’s. Bridgeman is Top 10 in birdies or better (9th) and par-4 scoring (10th).

Top 20 with ties

Ryan Gerard (+186): Gerard is another golfer who played great at the beginning of the season, fell off a bit in the middle and now is finding his form again. He also has a strong course fit number at 109.

Brandt Snedeker (+500): Snedeker is one of those sneaky plays who I think the odds makers have gotten wrong in the Top 20 market. His putting, around the green play and accuracy will give his solid scoring chances this week.

One and Done

Patrick Cantlay: Cantlay is one of those golfers who can pop off out of nowhere thanks his solid course history at a number of courses on the PGA Tour. TPC River Highlands is one of those courses where he has 8 straight Top 15 finishes in this event.
