I know it’s starting to get late in the NFL season with my Waiver Wire Stashes when I have to go back and check my previous articles on my top Stashes.
I reviewed my last few stories so I didn’t repeat a player, and Houston’s Jayden Higgins was one I was looking at this week until I realized I wrote about him last week.
The weeks are running together as the end of fantasy football regular season comes closer.
Let’s get into this week’s Stash Can players!
Waiver Wire Stashes
Tyrell Shavers, Buffalo (1 percent Yahoo!, 1 percent ESPN, 5 percent Sleeper)
Shavers may be the biggest winner of the Keon Coleman being late for a meeting fallout.
Shavers was one of a group of wide receivers who were battling for the No. 3 WR spot in the Bills offense.
Then Coleman was a healthy scratch on Sunday, and it allowed Shavers to play 54 percent of the Bills’ snaps. It was Shavers highest snap count percentage of the season.
And Shavers didn’t disappoint with the extra opportunities as he had a team-high 4 receptions on 5 targets for 90 yards and hauled in one of Josh Allen’s three touchdown passes. Shavers put himself in a good spot to take over the No. 2 WR spot in the Bills offense.
Gunnar Helm, Tennessee (1 percent Yahoo!, 1 percent ESPN, 55 Sleeper)
Helm has quietly become one of rookie quarterback Cam Ward’s consistent targets.
Helm has hauled in 24 of 30 targets this season for 216 yards and a touchdown.
And Helm has grown into his tight end role as the season has progressed.
He continues to be 1b at TE in the Titans offense behind Chig Okonkwo. Helm played 64 percent of the snaps in Tennessee’s loss to Houston on Sunday. Okonkwo was just ahead of Helm at 68 percent as the Titans continue to use two TE formations.
The Titans also have a favorable schedule for TEs the next four weeks. They face three Top 10 teams who give up the most TE fantasy points – Seattle (6th, Week 12), Jacksonville (2nd, Week 13) and San Francisco (9th, Week 15). The upcoming schudule alone makes Helm one of my top stashes.
Sean Tucker, Tampa Bay (26 percent Yahoo!, 29 percent ESPN, 69 percent Sleeper)
Tucker continues to be the second option, snap percentage wise, in the Buccaneers’ offense without Bucky Irving.
Rachaad White played 60 percent of the snaps in Tampa Bay’s road loss to Buffalo, but Tucker was the more explosive running back despite only playing 44 percent of the snaps.
Tucker finished with 21 touches compared to White’s 12 touches, and Tucker had the best game of his career. He finished with 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and also caught both of his targets for 34 yards and another touchdown.
Irving returned to practice last week since his shoulder and ankle injuries sidelined him since Week 4. However, it is the shoulder subluxation that continues to give him the most issue. And according to reports, coach Todd Bowles said Irving needs to prove to take a hit on the shoulder before they clear him to play.
As the Irving injury saga continues, Tucker may continue to receive the early down rushing work for the Bucs’ offense.
