Last week I had the right core from the New York Jets-Detroit game to take down a tournament with my DFS Plays.
But I couldn’t get the right pieces together to complete the feat. But it felt good to know the process was correct for the second time in three weeks.
The Jets’ Geno Smith and Garrett Wilson and Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs were able to score a combined 101.14 points last week. I’ll take that type of scoring every week from a core.
Let’s get into the Week 4 plays! Prices are from DraftKings.
QB DFS Plays
Sam Darnold, Seattle ($5,500, 4 percent rostered)
We all know the Seattle offense revolves around wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and if he’s having a big day so should his quarterback.
Sam Darnold returned from a glute injury last week and lit up the Washington Commanders defense, mainly using Smith-Njigba as his target.
The Los Angeles Chargers are a middle of the pack team of giving up 19.4 DraftKings points to QBs this season. But the Chargers are in a must win situation and should push the Seahawks to keep the pedal on the offense.
And when push comes to shove, Darnold is eyeing JSN.
Chalky play: Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville ($5,900, 10.1 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Jameis Winston, New York Giants ($4,500, 5.5 percent rostered)
RB DFS Plays
Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco ($7,700, 11.9 percent rostered)
Of the top four highest priced RBs on DK this week, Christian McCaffrey is currently the least rostered, but I think those numbers will quietly go up.
And even if the rostered numbers grow, CMC is the correct play this week.
The 49ers enter the week as the best team for explosive plays this season at 7.4 percent, and the Denver Broncos enter the week as the 9th worse team for allowing explosive plays at 6.9 percent.
And CMC is the focal point of the 49ers offense as he has Top 15 marks in both rushing explosive rate (13th) and receiving explosive rate (10th).
Chalky play: Derrick Henry, Baltimore ($8,400, 36.4 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Jeremiyah Love, Arizona ($5,800, 15.1 percent rostered)
WR DFS Plays
Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($9,100, 22.4 percent rostered)
It’s pretty obvious I’m playing JSN with Darnold. I love to stack my QB with his top WR.
JSN entered the year on most draft boards as the No. 1 WR in fantasy, and he hasn’t disappointed.
He continues to dominant the Seahawks target share at 37.9 percent (the best in the league) and those numbers jumps up to 50 percent in the red zone.
Then add in he’s 4th in the air yards (348) and has seen the most red zone targets at 9.
He may be getting close to a must play every week in DFS unless they keep pushing up his already slate high $9,100 salary.
Chalky play: Tee Higgins, Cincinnati ($6,100, 26.1 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Mack Hollins, New England ($4,000, 2.8 percent rostered)
TE DFS Plays
Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($5,000, 5.2 percent rostered)
Travis Kelce may never the top TE in the NFL again (thanks to his age and younger players Brock Bowers and Trey McBride), but he’s definitely better than he was last season.
He’s back in the Top 5 for explosive rates for receiving after falling off last season.
And with the AFC West Division matchup against the undefeated Las Vegas Raiders, QB Patrick Mahomes always seems to look for Kelce in key situations in big games.
Chalky play: Trey McBride ($6,500, 18.2 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Cade Otton ($3,400, 0.9 percent rostered)
DST DFS Plays
Minnesota ($4,000, 4.9 percent rostered) at home against Miami
Seattle ($3,500, 4.2 percent rostered) at home against Los Angeles Chargers
