The New York Giants defeat the Buffalo Bills 34-25
The first game of 2025 is in the books for the Buffalo Bills and it ended in defeat, largely in part due to an abysmal 1-9 on 3rd down by the Bills offense.
Focusing on the Bills’ offense, Tyrell Shavers had 2 receptions for 70 yards and showcased his deep threat ability. Meanwhile, Ray Davis was a letdown with 7 yards, granted, he only had 4 carries. Davis needs to make every snap count if he wishes to threaten James Cook‘s future in Buffalo.
Defensive Pressure
In the first quarter, newly acquired free agent and former Los Angeles Charger Joey Bosa was applying great pressure every snap and looked great opposite Gregory Rousseau. This is exactly what the Bills need if they are going to be rolling out an aging Tre’Davious White or an unproven rookie in Maxwell Hairston.
Good News For James Cook
Ray Davis was a non factor Saturday which is disappointing amid the contract dispute between Buffalo and James Cook. Now again as mentioned previously it was only 4 carries but if you know what’s going on with the RB1 you need to shine with the starters when given the opportunity and averaging less than 2 yards isn’t going to make you a threat to be RB1. Hopefully Ray Davis sees more snaps week 2 in the preseason and produces.
Bad News For Elijah Moore
Despite playing in the opening drive, Elijah Moore didn’t register a single reception while his competition, Joshua Palmer, had 2 receptions for 21 yards. Again like Ray Davis, Moore needs to understand the importance of every snap this preseason if he wishes to be a starter in Buffalo. He has the talent, but can he put it all together by week 1?
Other News
Despite having 0 sacks on the day, it is worth mentioning that the starters on the Bills’ defensive front applied significant pressure to rookie Jaxson Dart on the opening drive. It wasn’t enough as the Giants converted on an early 4th and 1 and proceeded to kick a field goal later in the drive. Promising debut of the revamped Bills defense.
