Waiver Wire Stashes: Youth continues to reign supreme for Week 4

Waiver Wire Stashes Week 4

It’s time for this week’s edition on Waiver Wire Stashes, and last week’s group delivered nicely in the Week 3 games.

Jacksonville’s Bhayshul Tuten and Tennessee’s Elic Ayomanor both scored for the second straight week, while Denver’s Troy Franklin is still a great stash despite Courtland Sutton ruling the Broncos’ wide receiver group in their loss to LA Chargers.

This week’s upcoming rookies may have a chance to make some more noise for their respective teams in the next few weeks.

Onto this week’s Waiver Wire Stashes!

RB Waiver Wire Stashes

Woody Marks, Houston (9 percent Yahoo!; 14 percent ESPN; 19 percent Sleeper)

Marks has quietly emerged as the back-up to Nick Chubb in the Texans’ backfield.

After Dameon Pierce was a healthy scratch for the second straight week, Marks finally got the snap share count to be called Houston’s RB2.

He only trailed Chubb, 52-48, in snap percentages and had a better yards per carry mark. Marks had 6 carries for 27 yards (4.5 ypc), while Chubb had 9 carries for 38 yards (4.2 ypc). It was also the second straight week that Marks’ yards per carry were higher than the veteran.

And Marks has been more efficient in his receptions out of the back, averaging 23.0 per catch, while Chubb is averaging 6.2 yards per reception.

Last year’s starter Joe Mixon does not have a timetable to return, which should allow Marks to continue to chip away at Chubb’s snaps.

WR Waiver Wire Stashes

Luther Burden III, Chicago (11 percent Yahoo!; 18 percent ESPN; 25 percent Sleeper)

Burden III was one of the NFL Draft darlings after the Bears snagged the Missouri standout in the second round.

Then came offseason minicamps as he suffered a hamstring injury in Chicago’s rookie camp. That injury lingered into preseason camp and games, leaving him deep on the depth chart.

Then came Week 3 – he had his highest snap count percentage of the season at 29 (17 snaps) and he made the best of it.

He touched the ball four times in the Bears’ home win against Dallas and amassed 3 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown and added a carry for 7 yards.

The Bears appeared to want him involved in the offense early as he was the primary target on his first quarter flea-flicker touchdown reception.

TE Waiver Wire Stashes

Oronde Gadsden II, LA Chargers (1 percent Yahoo!; 1 percent ESPN; 2 percent Sleeper)

Will Dissly’s knee injury finally opened the door for Gadsden II and he didn’t disappoint.

Gadsden II was a healthy scratch the first two weeks of the season and only played 26 percent of the snaps (22) on Sunday. But it’s what he did in those 22 snaps.

He was targeted seven times and finished with 5 catches for 46 yards. He had 78 percent of the tight end targets in the game.

Plus, the coaches trusted him late in the game. He had two big catches on the final drive to set up the Chargers game-winning field goal.
