Texas Children’s Houston Open Betting Guide: Bets to Win & Top 20 bets

Houston Open Top Plays

We finally had a week with no big name withdraws for my Betting Guide.

And if you followed by my plays in our Discord or on my X (formerly Twitter) account, I had another tournament winner with Matt Fitzpatrick.

I know his odds didn’t bring home a big win but I’ll take the small win after my last two weeks.

This week the PGA Tour heads to the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course.

Min Woo Lee picked up his first Tour win last year, holding off Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland, to win by one stroke.

Scheffler officially withdrew on Tuesday as he and his wife are expecting their second child.

Let’s get into this week’s Bets to Win and Top 20 plays!

Betting Guide: Bets to Win

Jake Knapp (+2400 on DraftKings)

I struggled with taking Knapp or Min Woo, but Knapp gave me better odds and he sits at the top of my spreadsheet this week.

Unlike pure ball-strikers who need multiple things to go right, Knapp can gain strokes in bunches quickly – thanks to his elite putting (2nd on Tour), strong around-the-green play, and enough distance (8th in shots gained: Driving distance) to generate scoring chances on par 5s.

The only concern is his back which forced him to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational before even taking a swing.

Ryan Fox (+6700 on DraftKings)

Fox thrives in weaker field environments, where his power and aggressive style translate into scoring runs. He can dominate par 5s and rack up birdies quickly, but his volatility is real — his irons can come and go — but that’s already baked into the number.

I believe he is undervalued in the betting market this week and he has a legit chance to win this event without Scheffler.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju (+9400 on DraftKings)

Yellamaraju is a classic model-driven longshot with sneaky win equity with his well-rounded statistical profile, particularly in approach and scoring ranges.

What makes Yellamaraju interesting is his balance—he doesn’t rely on just one skill to compete. Instead, he gains across multiple areas, giving him a more stable path to climbing the leaderboard compared to this week’s volatile bombers. While he lacks the proven closing history of elite players, he comes into the week as a Top 10 play on my spreadsheet this week.

Top 20 with ties

Haotang Li (+295 on DraftKings): His stats profile shows solid tee-to-green balance with respectable approach numbers, and while he doesn’t dominate any one category, he avoids the major weaknesses in a weaker field that typically lead to missed cuts.

David Ford (+430 on DraftKings): Ford’s game is built for gaining strokes tee-to-green, which gives him a legitimate chance to push into the Top 20 if he strings together four solid rounds. He has Top 45 skillset in SG: driving distance (44th) and SG: accuracy off the tee (35th) on the wide open Memorial Park.

One and Done

Min Woo Lee: I know it’s hard to win an event in back-to-back years on the PGA Tour, but he’s actually a better player this year than last because he slowed down his swing.
