Generational Talent
The Las Vegas Raiders welcomed back their dynamic playmaker, tight end Brock Bowers, in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bowers had missed the previous three games due to a knee injury. In his first game since September 28th, the All-Pro tight end caught 12 passes for 127 yards and a career-high three touchdowns.
After Bowers’ third touchdown reception, Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Pete Carroll decided to roll the dice and go for the win with only sixteen seconds remaining in overtime. On the two-point conversion attempt, quarterback Geno Smith tried to connect with wide receiver Tyler Lockett in the back of the end zone. However, Smith’s pass was batted down at the line of scrimmage, ending the Raiders’ hopes of a victory.
With the loss, the Las Vegas Raiders fall to 2-6 on the season. The Raiders have now lost six of their last seven games and currently reside in last place in the AFC West.
Raiders’ Offense Productive
After a horrendous offensive performance in Kansas City, the Las Vegas Raiders responded well. Following the bye week, the Raiders’ offense scored a season-high 29 points. The Raiders had 331 total yards on offense and recorded 26 first downs. Las Vegas went 7-for-10 on third down and 3-of-4 in the red zone. Geno Smith was efficient. The veteran quarterback completed 29-of-39 passes for 284 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
Ashton Jeanty was a force in the passing game. The rookie running back caught five passes for 47 yards and one touchdown. According to Next Gen Stats, Ashton Jeanty generated a career-high 71 yards after the catch and forced nine missed tackles.
The Las Vegas Raiders will look to carry the offensive momentum into a primetime matchup against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
A Field Goal to Remember
History was made inside Allegiant Stadium Sunday afternoon as Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little drilled an NFL record 68-yard field goal before halftime.
Cam Little took the NFL world by storm when he booted a 70-yard field goal during the preseason.
He was perfect against Las Vegas, going 3-for-3 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points. The former 2024 6th-round pick has turned into a weapon for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
